Sugar Creek Chili Golf Open
Beginning at 9 a.m., the annual Sugar Creek Chili Golf Open will take place at Sugar Creek Golf Course. Get out the clubs and bundle up for a round of golf in the snow, ice, wind or whatever Mother Nature serves up on that day. – some years have been sunny and mild! From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., ages 5 to adult are invited to drop by the Lizzadro Museum of Lapidary Arts for the annual Dinosaur Day. See and touch real fossils, 3-D puzzles of dinosaur bones, and make your very own fossil imprint to take home. Dinosaur Bingo at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Fossil prizes awarded. At 2 p.m., ages 10-18 are invited to the Lizzadro Museum of Lapidary Art for a 75-minute interactive program on Olympic Fossils. The Single Mothers Support Group will meet at 12:15 p.m. Enjoy lunch with your children, then free childcare will be available during the program. The program will feature Rev. Monday, Jan. 28
Beginning at 7:30 p.m., Grammy-nominated guitarist Tommy Emmanuel will perform a concert in Hammerschmidt Chapel on the campus of Elmhurst College. The concert will benefit a scholarship fund named for his family at the College. The Elmhurst College Gretsch Guitar Ensemble will also perform. - ALSO CLOSING Jan. 6, Lizzadro Museum of Lapidary Art, 220 Cottage Hill Ave., presents a special exhibit “Fabergé Figurative Carvings.” Modern carvings from the House of Fabergé, feature Russian folklore figures of the Kvass Seller, the Gypsy Fortune Teller and the Vagabond made of Russian gemstone materials.
