Members of the Lombard Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association (LCPAAA) and Lombard police officers teamed up Dec. 1 to host their 20th annual Shop with a Cop program. The event is the largest undertaking by the alumni members each year. First, the officers and alumni members traveled by squad car to pick up children from 12 Lombard families early in the morning. Then, with lights flashing and sirens blaring, a caravan of squad cars left village hall and traveled to Target in Yorktown Center where the officers, alumni members and the young shoppers hit the aisles to searched for presents for family members. Once the shopping was completed, they headed back to the village hall to wrap the presents, visit with Santa and have lunch. Lombard Police Sgt. Sherie Eakins is the department’s LCPAAA liaison officer.
