The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.
Assault, battery
Sept. 23
A victim in the 700 block of Mary Court told police at around 3:09 p.m. that while confronting a suspect about driving on the grass, the suspect pushed the victim, placed him into a bear-hug and both fell to the ground. The suspect told police the victim verbally abused him and attempted to pull him to the ground. Neither party had visible injuries nor wished to pursue the incident. Both parties signed decline to investigate forms.
Sept. 20
Police said officers responded to the 100 block of S. Prospect at around 7:10 p.m. for the report of two juveniles fighting. A juvenile suspect stated an argument turned physical when the suspect pushed the victim. Both parties were separated by library staff. The suspect was cited for battery and released to his parents.

Sept. 23
A victim in the 100 block of S. Kenmore told police at around 1:45 p.m. that an unknown suspect rang the doorbell and then ran southbound on Kenmore when the homeowner answered the door. The suspect ran across the hood of the victim’s vehicle, causing a dent and leaving a muddy shoe print. The suspect was described as a black male in his early 20s, wearing a long-sleeved blue Adidas shirt.

Sept. 24
George E. Taylor, 76, of Elmhurst, was charged with disorderly conduct near Park and Prospect at around 9:21 a.m. According to police, a victim stated that while walking to the library with her grandson, an older white male suspect, identified as Taylor, made sexually explicit comments to her.
Domestic battery, domestic incident, disturbance
Sept. 26
A 56-year-old man and a 23-year-old man, both from Elmhurst, were charged with domestic battery in the 600 block of W. Crockett at around 8:50 p.m. Police said that subsequent to a verbal argument, both suspects began physically fighting. A victim attempted to stop the fight and was pushed to the ground.
Sept. 23
A victim in the 300 block of N. West told police at around 2:52 p.m. that she and the suspect were parked in their driveway arguing. The victim exited the car and walked to the rear. The suspect exited the vehicle and closed the rear hatchback, preventing the victim from removing some property. The suspect then backed out of the driveway and left the scene.

Sept. 27
Gerald Burks, 33, of Villa Park, was charged with DUI, possession of cannabis and disobeying a traffic control device subsequent to a traffic stop near Route 83 and St. Charles at around 1:37 a.m.
Sept. 24
Ryan Spector, 38, of Addison, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, driving under the influence of drugs, improper lane usage and no headlights subsequent to a traffic stop near York and Lake at around 8:31 p.m.
Sept. 23
Jose M. Barajas, 52, of Oakbrook Terrace, was charged with DUI, improper lane usage, speeding and failure to signal subsequent to a traffic stop near I-290 and York at around 2:39 a.m.
Joshua Figueroa, 23, of Addison, was charged with DUI, speeding, improper lane usage, driving without headlights when required and tinted side windows subsequent to a traffic stop near Lake and Route 83 at around 4:51 a.m.
Gabriela Gonzalez, 22, of Chicago, was charged with DUI, improper turn and no rear registration subsequent to a traffic stop near North and Melrose at around 3:09 a.m.
Police said officers responded to the call of a driver sleeping behind the wheel at a traffic light near Butterfield and York at around 12:20 a.m. Subsequent to a traffic stop, the driver, a juvenile, was allegedly found to be DUI-drugs and in violation of curfew. During a search of the vehicle, cannabis dab and drug paraphernalia were located in the vehicle. The juvenile was charged with DUI-drugs, possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, improper parking on a roadway and a curfew violation.

Kevin Babica, 27, of Addison, was charged with DUI and following too closely subsequent to a traffic stop near Butterfield and Commonwealth at around 1:57 a.m.
Lucas X. Mercado, 24, of Chicago, was charged with DUI, illegal transportation of alcohol, possession of cannabis, failure to signal and no insurance, while Adrian Castaneda, 28, of Berkeley, a passenger in the vehicle, was issued a citation for illegal transportation of alcohol subsequent to a traffic stop near Route 83 and Riverside at around 5:14 a.m.
Raymond Mora, 39, of Chicago, was charged with aggravated DUI, illegal transportation of alcohol, driving while license suspended, following too closely, speeding and improper lane usage subsequent to a traffic stop near Route 83 and Lake at around 1:49 a.m.
Harassment, threats
Sept. 25
Police said a victim in the 700 block of N. Walnut received a telephone call and text messages at around 11:54 a.m. from an unknown person demanding money “or else someone would hurt him and his family.” The victim was advised that this was an internet fraud and was told to block the phone number.
Aug. 20-Sept. 18
A victim in the 200 block of S. Grace told police that she and the suspect recently broke up. The suspect sent the victim a threatening text. The victim did not want to sign complaints at this time.

Sept. 26
Adam Crocetti, 33, of Elmhurst, was issued a citation for possession of cannabis and disobeying a traffic control device subsequent to a traffic stop near Lake and Walnut at around 7:54 p.m.
Sept. 24
Alonso Morales, 20, of Melrose Park, was charged with possession of cannabis and driving while license suspended, while Omar Perez, 19, of Berkeley, was issued a citation for possession of cannabis in the 300 block of W. Commonwealth at around 4:47 p.m.
Sept. 23
Curtis J. Geiger, 21, of Tomahawk, Wis., was issued a citation for possession of cannabis at around 11:06 p.m.
Police said that subsequent to a traffic stop near Commerce and Schiller at around 3:55 p.m., a reporting officer detected an odor of burnt cannabis coming from inside the vehicle. The vehicle was searched and a cannabis smoking pipe was located, according to police. The driver of the vehicle, Victor S. Greutman, 25, of Villa Park, was charged under local ordinance with possession of drug paraphernalia, no valid driver’s license, no valid registration and no seat belt.

Sept. 26
Retail theft was reported at a gas station in the 400 block of N. York at around 6:07 a.m. Police said a reporting officer responded to the report of a male white in his 20s, wearing a black shirt and blue jeans, who stole two burritos, exited the store, entered a red Chevy, and left the area. After further investigation, the reporting officer identified the suspect. The gas station wanted a no-trespass notice issued but did not want to sign complaints.
Sept. 4-Sept. 25
Theft by deception was reported in the 500 block of W. Babcock between the above dates. A complainant told police that he received an email about an employment opportunity, which involved him receiving check and sending monetary items back to the alleged employer. The victim was advised to buy gift cards and then text the serial number to a phone number. The victim became suspicious when the unknown person also requested cash to be transferred into a Western Union account.

Identity theft was reported in the 700 block of S. Euclid at around 12:04 p.m. A victim told police she received a letter in the mail stating she had an outstanding balance on her Amazon credit card. The victim stated an Amazon credit card account had been fraudulently opened in her name.
Sept. 23
Daniel A. Odom, 20, of Elmhurst, was charged with retail theft and contributing to the delinquency of a minor in the 500 block of S. Spring at around 9:32 p.m. Two juvenile suspects were charged with retail theft and possession of tobacco.
A victim in the 400 block of S. Spring told police at around 3:35 p.m. that an unknown suspect entered her unlocked Honda Fit and removed her iPhone from the front dashboard.
Attempted retail theft was reported at a store in the 100 block of W. North at around 1:25 a.m. A complainant told police that she witnessed a suspect described as a black male, around 6’2”, 200 pounds, with a scruffy beard, wearing a black baseball cap and a large red coat enter the store and conceal bottles of vodka in his coat. When she
confronted the suspect, he removed three bottles from his coat and ran out of the store. A store inventory indicated all the liquor was now accounted for.
Commercial burglary was reported in the 500 block of W. Lake at around 6 a.m. A victim told police that an unknown suspect removed 48 car tires and rims from an unlocked box truck parked at the above location. The case is pending investigation.
Sept. 22
Four incidents of burglary were reported in the 100 block of S. West at around 10:10 a.m. In the first incident, a victim told police that cash and credit cards were missing from his secured locker. There were no signs of forced entry to the locker. In the second incident, a victim told police that his wristwatch, wallet, and several credit cards was missing from his secured locker. There were no signs of forced entry to the locker. In the third incident, a victim told police that his iPhone was missing from his secured locker. There were no signs of forced entry to the locker. In the fourth incident, a victim told police that his iPhone and his wallet were missing from his secured locker. There were no signs of forced entry to the locker. The suspect in each incident, described as a black male approximately 35 years old, wearing dark pants, a dark blue coat, a U.S. Army baseball cap and carrying a red bag, matches the description from similar locker burglaries in another town.
A victim at Elmhurst Hospital told police at around 12:01 p.m. that she left her phone unattended for two hours in the ER waiting room. When she returned, her phone was missing. Surveillance footage showed the phone was taken by an unknown suspect. The victim did not want to press charges and the phone was returned to her. The suspect was served with a no-trespass notice and left the property.
Retail theft was reported at a store in the 600 block of N. York at around 4:46 p.m. A complainant told police he observed the incident on store surveillance footage. The video showed a suspect described as a white female, around 5’5”, between 30 and 40 years old with blonde hair, a thin build, wearing black pants, a white long-sleeved shirt with a green vest, black gym shoes and a dark colored baseball cap, pushing a shopping cart full of unpaid items. The unknown suspect walked out the door and into a white SUV that was parked on the far west side of the parking lot.
Theft was reported at a store in the 200 block of S. Route 83 at around 6 p.m. A reporting officer spoke to the victim who told police she set her purse in a shopping cart and was selecting items from the frozen food section. The victim stated a suspect described as a black female with short hair bumped into her and subsequently removed her wallet from her purse. The victim chased the suspect into the parking lot. The suspect tossed the wallet, entered a dark colored SUV, and fled the scene.
Sept. 20
Retail theft was reported at a store in the 600 block of N. York at around 11:59 a.m. A reporting officer spoke to loss prevention who stated that an unknown suspect attempted to exit the store with a cart full of unpaid liquor. The suspect left the cart full of items in the vestibule and proceeded to walk towards an unknown vehicle. The suspect left the scene prior to the officer’s arrival.
Identity theft was reported in the 800 block of N. Emory at around 4:38 p.m. A victim told police that an unknown suspect made an unauthorized purchase with his credit card in Arizona. The card has been deactivated and the victim was advised he will not be out any money once the police report is filed.
Sept. 19
Theft was reported at the Elmhurst Library at around 10:08 a.m. A victim told police that she was on the second floor of the library charging her cell phone. The victim later unplugged her phone, placed it in her purse, and placed the purse on a table. The victim briefly left the purse unattended when she walked out to use the bathroom. When she returned, she exited the library and later realized her phone was no longer in her purse.
A complainant at a business in the 300 block of W. Butterfield told police at around 10:25 a.m. that he authorized a payment after receiving an email from whom he thought was his boss. The complainant realized the email was from a third party and not his boss; but had a very similar email address.
Sept. 16-Sept. 17
Theft was reported in the 100 block of N. Elm. A victim told police that an unknown suspect entered his unlocked detached garage and removed several power tools from his workbench sometime between the above dates.
Sept. 1
Theft was reported in the 300 block of N. Adele at around 5:43 p.m. A victim told police that an unknown male juvenile suspect removed his doorbell camera that was mounted on the exterior wall. The victim wanted the report as a matter of record.
Warrant arrest
Sept. 26
Police said that subsequent to observing a suspicious person exiting a store in the 300 block of S. Route 83 at around 5:20 p.m., the reporting officer conducted a registration check on the listed vehicle and found the registered owner, Ricardo Salgado, 30, of Bensenville, had an active warrant out of the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office.
Sept. 25
Police said Kimberly L. Keller, 46, of Elmhurst, turned herself in at the Elmhurst police station at around 8:08 p.m. on a warrant out of DuPage County.
Sept. 20
Police said that subsequent to a traffic stop near Third and Michigan at around 4:02 p.m., Denis Agnos, 58, of Elmhurst, was found to have an original warrant out of the Bloomingdale Police Department. Agnos was placed under arrest and transported to the police department. He was later given a warning for expired registration and released to the custody of the Bloomingdale Police Department.
