Movies in the Park
The Villa Park Public Library and the Villa Park Parks and Recreation Department present Movies in the Park on Mondays, Aug. 6 and Aug. 13 at 8 p.m. All are invited to bring a lawn chair and a picnic basket to enjoy a movie outdoors on the big screen at Cortesi Park (320 E Kenilworth Ave., Villa Park). Family Fun Fest in York Center Aug. 3
Come celebrate the end of summer with the York Center Park District. There will be food, music, games, amusements and much more. Bring friends and family for celebration that will end with fireworks. York Center kindergarten enrichment
The Kindergarten Enrichment Program is a child-centered differentiated curriculum that offers stimulating activities and learning experiences for your child’s success in kindergarten and beyond. Children who attend morning kindergarten at participating schools in District 45 will be picked up by bus and transported to the York Center Park District each day after school. Children who attend the kindergarten program may attend the After School Recreation Program following kindergarten dismissal. Vacation Bible School at Faith United Methodist
Faith United Methodist Church, 815 S. Finley Road, Lombard, will be holding Vacation Bible School, Aug. 6-10, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for ages 5 to 18. Hair Cuttery to help less fortunate with haircuts
Hair Cuttery will be donating back to school haircuts to children who need it most. Visit one of Hair Cuttery’s neighborhood salons from now to Aug. 15. For every child up to age 18 who purchases a haircut at one of Hair Cuttery’s nearly 900 salons, one free haircut certificate will be donated to a disadvantaged child locally.
Red Cross in need of blood donors
After issuing an emergency call for blood and platelet donors in early July, the American Red Cross continues to face an emergency blood shortage. Eligible donors of all blood types are urged to give now. Senior Men’s Club to meet Aug. 7

‘Couch to 5K’ program at Villa Park Library
All who are interested in participating in the Villa Park Junior Women’s Club Trick or Trot 5K in October are invited to take part in this summer’s Couch to 5K Training Program.
