Archery Open House at Blackwell Aug. 4
Explore the classic sport of archery at a free “Archery Open House” on Saturday, Aug. 4, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Blackwell Forest Preserve in Warrenville. Participants will learn about this popular sport and its history and equipment before trying out their skills under the guidance of a certified instructor. The open house will highlight the archery range’s three different sections: beginner, advanced and interactive. Visitors will also be able to talk to representatives from local archery groups at the event. All ages are welcome at the open house, but adults must accompany those under 18. Free outdoor concerts in Villa Park
Villa Park Recreation is offering Thursday evening outdoor concert series this summer at Cortesi Veterans Memorial Park, 320 E. Kenilworth. Back to School Fair
The DuPage County Back to School Fair, coordinated by Catholic Charities, Diocese of Joliet will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 1, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at St. Francis High School in Wheaton. This annual summer event is a major countywide effort to help families who are living on low-incomes access important services to begin the school year on a positive note. Children who attend the fair will receive free medical and dental services; vital information about local programs and services; free haircuts; and a new backpack with school supplies.
