York Alumni presents theatre performance

At 7:30 p.m. in the Baker Auditorium at York High School, York Drama to pre-sents “The 25th Annual Put-nam County Spelling Bee” as their 2018 Alumni Produc-tion. Friday, June 1

Relay For Life steps off at 5 p.m. at York High School, 355 St. Charles Road. The survivor lap starts at 6:30 p.m. with a Luminaria tribute to loved ones battling or lost to cancer at 8:15 p.m. All are welcome.

 

Saturday, June 2

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Immaculate Conception Parish will host an Alex’s Lemonade Stand event in the church parking lot to support Anna Cimarra, a kindergartener who was diagnosed with leukemia. To donate online, visit alexslemonade.org/mypage/1439001

At 2 p.m., Lizzadro Museum presents a Stone Hunt. This hands-on activity allows children and adults to search for gems and minerals among more common rocks. Each rock or mineral found is identified and can be taken home. For ages 5-adult. Registration recommended. $5 fee.

 

Tuesday, June 5

At 7 p.m., the Crestview Garden Club will hold a meeting which will feature Mary Saba, from The Growing Place, who will discuss basic design principles and how to apply them to your home to create the curb appeal you have always wanted. The meeting takes place at the Community Bank of Elmhurst, 330 W. Butterfield Road at Spring Road, second floor. Info: 630-408-7900.

 

Wednesday, June 6

From 5:30-8:30 p.m., families are invited to City Centre for a Wednesday Night Block Party with free live music and kid-friendly fun. Performing in City Centre Fountain Plaza this week is Rocks Off, a Rolling Stones tribute band. On stage at Elmhurst 255 North York Plaza location will be The Snuffy Brothers an acoustic guitar/percussion duo performing rhythm & blues and soul music.

 

Thursday, June 7

From 7-9 p.m., the Spring Road Business Association presents Music at the Gazebo. This week, The Stingrays, a Rock & Roll band will perform. Free and open to the public. Bring lawn chairs or blankets. Picnics welcome but no alcohol is allowed. Info: springroad.com

From 5:30-8:30 p.m., families are invited to City Centre for a Wednesday Night Block Party with free live music and kid-friendly fun. Performing in City Centre Fountain Plaza this week is Red Dirt Girl. On stage at Elmhurst 255 North York Plaza location will be The Broken Halos.

  • Widows or Widowers (WOW) meet every third Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 537 S. York Road.
