Area police departments recently reported the following arrests and citations. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that suspects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.
Addison
Feb. 22
Nicholas M. Chipman, 28, of Bolingbrook, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance in the 700 block of Briar Hill Lane at around 10:43 a.m.
Feb. 20
A 19-year-old Addison man was charged with domestic battery in the 500 block of W. Diversey at around 10:20 p.m. Police said the suspect pushed the victim to the ground and landed on top of her, hurting her stomach. While the suspect was on top of victim, he allegedly punched her on the right side of her face and held her hands to strike her own face with them. The suspect also reportedly scratched victim’s hands and hit her in both her legs with an extension cord.
Feb. 19
Gustavo Lara, 47, of Addison, was charged with DUI, illegal transportation of open alcohol by the driver, speeding and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near Lake and Second at around 2:03 a.m.
Feb. 18
Silvino Martinez-Delgado, 38, of Addison, was charged with DUI, illegal transportation of open alcohol by the driver, leaving the scene of an accident, driving off the roadway, no valid driver’s license and no insurance in the 1-100 block of E. Fullerton at around 3:25 p.m.
Feb. 17
Carlos H. Chavarria, 46, of Addison, was charged with unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle, resisting a police officer, DUI, illegal transportation of open alcohol by a driver, driving too fast for conditions, driving while license revoked, disobeying a traffic control device and disobeying a stop sign near Addison and Lincoln at around 8:45 p.m. Police said Chavarria was stopped after an officer observed him driving at a high rate of speed disobeying a stop sign and a traffic signal before his vehicle came to a skid in the middle of an intersection on the icy road. According to police, Chavarria was found to be in possession of a stolen vehicle, DUI, driving while license revoked, and illegally transporting open alcohol. Chavarria tensed up and kicked a shovel as he was being transported to the squad car to the DuPage County Jail, according to police.
Feb. 16
A 26-year-old Addison woman was charged with domestic battery in the 1-100 block of E. Blecke Ave. at around 2:18 p.m. Police said the suspect struck a victim on the left and right side of his face.
Feb. 17
Kasey D. Camire, 20, of Villa Park, was charged with two counts of DUI, improper lane usage and making an improper turn near Route 83 and St. Charles at around 1:36 a.m.
Janet Reyes, 45, of Villa Park, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, failure to give aid or information, failure to give information after striking an unattended vehicle and failure to report an accident to police in the 1-100 block of E. Jackson at around 6:14 a.m.
Burglary was reported at a computer store at around 10:44 p.m. Police said unknown male suspects forced entry to the business and removed several computers.
Feb. 16
Manuel Escalante, 33, of Chicago, was issued a citation for possession of cannabis near North and Villa at around 8:21 a.m.
Adam Johnson, 41, of Villa Park, was charged with criminal damage to property in the 800 block of N. Yale between 3:30 and 3:45 p.m.
Criminal damage was reported at a local business. Police said an unknown suspect broke a window on the east side of the building.
A female juvenile from Villa Park was charged with disorderly conduct/fighting at a school at around 5:05 p.m.
Feb. 15
Antoine Smith, 45, of Bellwood, was charged with aggravated DUI, aggravated driving while license suspended, improper lane usage and no insurance near St. Charles and Cornell at around 1:13 a.m.
Michael Wojtas, 19, of Bloomingdale, was charged with retail theft at a convenience store at around 9:49 a.m. He also was charged with retail theft at a local store at around 1:35 a.m.
Theft was reported at a restaurant at around 5:23 p.m. Police said an unknown male suspect stole a purse from the counter top that was left unattended.
Criminal damage was reported in the 500 block of N. Iowa at around 5:58 p.m. Police said an unknown suspect damaged the door frame of the back door when the door was forced open and a newspaper was placed between the door and storm door.
A female juvenile from Villa Park was charged with criminal trespass to state supported land and interference with a public institution of education in the 200 block of W. Vermont at around 3:01 p.m.
Feb. 14
Joseph Whelan, 23, of Villa Park, was charged with DUI, improper passing of an emergency vehicle, expired registration, improper lane usage, disobeying a stop sign and no insurance near Vermont and Ardmore at around 11:49 p.m.
Retail theft was reported at a music store at around 6 p.m. Police said an unknown male suspect removed a guitar from the show room and left without paying for the item.
Theft was reported at a local store. Police said that between 2 and 2:15 p.m. while a customer was shopping with their wallet/purse in their jacket pocket, an unknown female suspect pick-pocketed the customer and left the store with the wallet/purse.
A female juvenile from Villa Park was charged with battery in the 400 block of N. Addison at around 2:28 p.m.
Feb. 13
Trevor M. Wukasch, 35, of Villa Park, was charged with DUI, endangering the life of a child, reckless driving, driving on a sidewalk and no insurance in the 600 block of E. Wildwood at around 10:59 p.m.
Feb. 11
Gerardo Bedolla, 18, and Juan D. Gutierrez, 18, both of Villa Park, were issued citations for possession of cannabis near Vermont and Iowa at around 7:22 p.m.
