Police Reports

   Area Police Departments recently reported the following arrests and citations. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.

Addison

Jan. 2

Melvin Daniels, Jr., 28, of Addison, was charged with battery in the 200 block of S. Hale at around 3:03 p.m. Police said Daniels Jr. threw a cigarette at a police officer, striking the officer on the thigh.

Jan. 3

Police said an officer responded to River Edge Hospital to transport Jack T. Cronan, 19, of Addison, to be processed on an original warrant out of the Addison Police Department for aggravated assault to a policeofficer, criminal trespass to property and resisting a police officer.

Dec. 31

A 58-year-old Addison man was charged with domestic battery in the 500 block of Ronald Drive at around 6:14 p.m. Police said the suspect struck a victim on the head and face.

Dec. 30

Police said Tonia C. Ciancanelli, 28, of Addison, had a failure to appear warrant out of the DuPage County Sheriff’s Department for DUI.

Timothy J. Sani, 31, of Hanover Park, was charged with retail theft at a store at around 1:35 p.m. Police said Sani took merchandise for sale without paying for them, and then took them to the customer service counter for cash to pay for items at the self-checkout lane.

Dec. 29

Davontae D. Smith, 20, of Addison, was charged with unlawful possession of cannabis in the 500 block of Stevens Drive at around 12:01 a.m. Police said an officer observed a vehicle illegally parked with the engine running and the lights off. The passenger in the vehicle, Smith, was found to be in possession of cannabis, according to police.

Dec. 28

Police said Juan C. Cardona, 34, of Wood Dale, had a failure to appear warrant out of the DuPage County Sheriff’s Department for no valid driver’s license. Cardona was additionally charged with driving while license suspended and no insurance, and was issued a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident in the 100 block of W. Lake at around 1:47 p.m.

Villa Park

Dec. 31

Martin A. Gamboa, 42, of Villa Park, was charged with two counts of DUI, speeding and disobeying a traffic control device in the 500 block of N. Addison at around 12:46 a.m.

Ubaldo Herrera-Ocampo, 38, of Villa Park, was charged with aggravated DUI, two counts of DUI, two counts of disobeying a traffic control device, improper lane usage, driving while license revoked and no insurance near Ardmore and Terrace at around 4:31 a.m.

Dec.30

Brenda L. Colon-Colon, 41, of Stone Park; Randy C. Maldonado, 21, of Melrose Park; and Paulina Miranda, 25, of Melrose Park, were each charged with two counts of retail theft at a store at around 4:14 p.m.

A stolen vehicle was reported in the 900 block of W. North. Police said an unknown suspect stole a vehicle that was parked unoccupied and unsecured with the engine running to warm up between 9:40 and 10 a.m. The vehicle was later recovered in Lombard.

Dec. 29

Herman L. Nitz (last known residence Aurora) was charged with three counts of retail theft between 3 p.m. Nov. 1 and 11 a.m. Nov. 2. The original complaint and arrest warrant were issue on Dec. 29.

Dec. 27

Theft was reported at a local cleaners. Police said unknown suspects stole a bank bag containing $500 in cash along with a business checkbook and a personal checkbook between 9 a.m. and noon.

Theft was reported in the 500 block of N. Iowa at 9:11 p.m. Police said unknown suspects used a counterfeit $100 bill to pay for a pizza delivery. The delivery driver provided $49.47 in change to the suspect without knowing the money was counterfeit.

Theft was reported in the 400 block of N. Iowa at 8:26 p.m. Police said unknown suspects used a counterfeit $100 bill to pay for a pizza delivery. The delivery driver provided $55 in change to the suspect without knowing the money was counterfeit.

Dec. 26

A 43-year-old Villa Park man was charged with two counts of domestic battery in the 400 block of N. Ardmore at 10:30 p.m.

Vandalism was reported in the 500 block of S. Wisconsin. Police said that between noon Dec. 22 and 9 p.m. Dec. 23, an unknown suspect shut the gas off to the residence.

Dec. 23

Theft was reported at a local store. Police said that an unknown suspect stole a white iPhone X while a victim was shopping between 8 and 9 p.m.
