Friday, Jan. 12 — ECPA presents “Broadway in Elmhurst”

At 7:30 p.m., theElmhurst Centre for Performing Arts (ECPA) will host “Broadway in Elmhurst” at Timothy Christian School Auditorium, featuring performers with Elmhurst roots. Tickets are $20 for adults in advance ($22 at the door), $18 for seniors and students in advance ($20 at the door) and $15 each for groups of 10 or more. Saturday, Jan. 13

Lizzadro Museum will present “Say Bones! Dinosaur BINGO” beginning at 2 p.m. for ages 7 to adult. Come play a fossil-filled version of the classic game Bingo, led by Ron Solberg. Learn about 1 million year-old fossils such as trilobites and crinoids while playing the classic game. Geared for grades 3-5, adults are welcome to play too. Rock and fossil prizesawarded. Sunday, Jan. 14

From 12:15-2:30 p.m., there will be a Single Mothers Luncheon event featuring Author/Speaker LinaAbujamra, a pediatric ER doctorwhoheps women build their faith and manage critical decisions. Single moms and your children are invited to the event at Elmhurst Christian Reformed Church 149 W. Brush Hill Rd, just west of the Elmhurst Hospital. Lina will speak at 1:10, at that time children will go to age appropriate activities. Admission: free. For more information email Jane at [email protected].

Thursday, Jan. 18

From 6:30-8 p.m., the Elmhurst History Museum will host a book discussion about “Lincoln in the Bardo,” an engrossing 2017 novel by best-selling author George Saunders. Guests can also enjoy after-hours access to the exhibits. Co-presented with Elmhurst Public Library in connection with the exhibit, “Freedom: A History of US.” Appropriate for adults. A limited number of books will be available at the Elmhurst Public Library or any major bookseller. Registration required, call 630-530-6879 to register.

Saturday, Jan. 27

A memorial celebration is planned to honor legendary York Boys Cross Country coach Joe Newton beginning at 2 p.m. in the York Commons at York Community High School, 355 W. St. Charles Rd. Mr. Newton died in the early morning of Dec. 9 in Arizona. The public is invited.

Ongoing programs:

  • A support group for family caregivers of older adults meets the second and fourth Thursdays of every month from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Elmhurst Public Library’s second floor study room. (Not an Elmhurst Library program.) Info: (630) 833-9665.
