Flag used will be retired at Veterans Day ceremony
Larry D. Boys, deceased November 28, 2011, a Vietnam War Army veteran will be honored during the 1 p.m. honor guard ceremony on Sunday, Oct. 22 by having his name placed I the Roll of Remembrance at the Veterans Memorial in Elmhurst’s Wilder Park.
Boys entered the service on September 20, 1966, attaining the rank of Specialist Five, and was discharged on September 19 1969. He served as a medical airman and received the Bronze Star Medal with First Oak Leaf Cluster for valorous action on October 14, 1967. He also received the Combat Medial Bad, the Vietnam Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Marksman-Rifle and Pistol, and the Good Conduct Medal.
The flag used for Boys’ ceremony will fly above the Memorial in Wilder Park through Veterans Day on November 11. On that date, during the Annual Elmhurst Veterans Day Ceremony of Remembrance which begins at 10:30 a.m., the flag will be lowered and presented to Boys’ widow Terry Boys.
