In conjunction with his exhibition, Hebru Brantley selected a series of films including “Exit Through the Gift Shop,” a documentary film by the famously unidentified artist Banksy about an amateur film-maker who enthusiastically records the work of street artists.

EAG Artist Talk | John Walker
Join the Elmhurst Artist Guild for a free artist talk by John Walker. He will be discussing how he began working in his current imaginative realist style by combining traditional portrait and figurative painting with other interests like sculpting and woodworking. He will show some of his earlier pieces, illustration and airbrush work, and talk about how bringing all of these various pursuits together resulted in an entirely new body of work. He will follow up the presentation with a quick demo of his acrylic painting technique.

In conjunction with his exhibition, Hebru Brantley selected a series of films including “The Case of the Three Sided Dream,” an award winning documentary about the inspiring story of American jazz multi-instrumentalist Rahsaan Roland Kirk, directed by Adam Kahan.

Panel Discussion: The Power of Art in Public Places
Guest Curator Jenny Gibbs will moderate a discussion about the power of art in public places in conjunction with the exhibition “Hebru Brantley: Forced Fields.” The panel will include the artist Hebru Brantley, Patrick Hull (owner and curator of Vertical Gallery), and Nathan Mason (Curator of Exhibits and Public Art at the Chicago Cultural Center).
