Area Police Departments recently reported the following arrests and citations. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.
Addison
Aug. 17
Savannah White, 20, of Berwyn, was charged with retail theft at a store in the 1000 block of N. Rohlwing Road at around 5:14 p.m. Police said White placed $200 in her pocket, which fell onto the floor from the register.
Aug. 14
• Juan Popoca, 33, of Addison, was charged with assault in the 500 block of Green Oaks Court at around 1:49 a.m. Police said Popoca and a victim got into a verbal altercation when he brandished a knife and acted as if he was going to stab the victim. According to police, Popoca left the scene and was apprehended by police.
• Shannon Shaughnessy, 22, of Aurora, was charged with possession of a controlled substance in the 400 block of Wesley at around 5:45 p.m.
• A 25-year-old Addison man was charged with domestic battery and criminal damage to property in the 600 block of N. Swift at around 2:51 a.m. Police said the suspect grabbed a victim’s wrist, causing a bruise, and then proceeded to damage the victim’s vehicle, breaking most of the windows.
Aug. 12
Richardo Ramirez, 26, of Addison, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, an expired license and no insurance near Mill and Wrightwood at 8:01 p.m.
Villa Park
Aug. 12
• Brenna Kinsey, 18, of Elmhurst, was charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession of cannabis and speeding near Villa and Plymouth at around 4:30 p.m.
• Richard C. Strobel, 20, of Sugar Grove, was cited for possession of alcohol by a minor and possession of drug paraphernalia in the 300 block of N. Iowa at around 1:56 p.m.
• Nathan L. Swapsy, 37, of Milwaukee, Wis., was charged with obstructing identification and driving while license suspended in the 1-100 block of E. North Ave. at around 8:50 p.m.
• Battery was reported at a church in the area. Police said that between 1:45 and 2 a.m., two unknown male teens and one female teen approached and started yelling at a male sitting on a park bench. When the male got up and started to jog away, one of the male teens chased and battered him.
Aug. 11
• Angel F. Lopez Trujillo, 19, of Bolingbrook, was charged with possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia and no valid driver’s license near North and Kramer
• Shannon R. Lovecchio, 21, of Villa Park, was charged with unlawful possession of a hypodermic syringe or needle, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while license suspended, speeding and improper lane usage near St. Charles and Villa at around 10:40 p.m.
• Nicole B. Marzullo, 22, of Lombard, was charged with possession of cannabis under 10 grams, possession of drug paraphernalia and improper lighting near St. Charles and Yale at around 9:56 p.m.
• Jordan A. Santiago, 21, of Addison, was charged with transportation of open alcohol, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to give information and failure to report an accident in the 300 block of E. Kenilworth at around 12:05 a.m.
• Theft was reported at a clothing store. Police said that an unknown suspect stole an iPhone that was inadvertently left unattended at the checkout counter.
Aug. 10
A 53-year-old Villa Park man was charged with two counts of domestic battery at around 9:23 p.m. July 25. The original complaint and arrest warrant was issued Aug. 10.
Aug. 9
Francesco V. A. Somers, 25, of Villa Park, was charged with violation of an order of protection in the 600 block of S. Riverside at around 7:21 p.m.
Aug. 7
• Martique D. Barksdale, 35, of Villa Park, was charged with criminal trespass to land in the 1-100 block of W. St. Charles at around 10:31 a.m.
• Retail theft was reported at a beauty supply store. Police said an unknown female suspect removed items from the display and left the store without paying for the items.
Aug. 6
• Kevin S. McParland, 35, of Villa Park, was charged with two counts of DUI, reckless driving, driving too fast for conditions, a loud muffler and no insurance near Plymouth and Michigan at around 6:51 p.m.
• Lorena Zavala, 23, of Villa Park, was charged with battery in the 300 block of E. Kenilworth at around 11:43 p.m.
July 13-Aug. 7
Criminal damage was reported in the 300 block of W. St. Charles. Police said that between 5 p.m. July 13 and 9:51 a.m. Aug. 7, an unknown suspect shattered a window of a bus with a BB or pellet, while it was parked unoccupied in the parking lot.
Aug. 6
Theft was reported in the 1-100 block of N. Princeton. Police said that between 2:45 and 4:26 p.m., an unknown suspect stole a lawnmower that was left unattended on the parkway.
Aug. 2
Retail theft was reported at a retail store. Police said that at around 12:09 p.m., an unknown suspect removed a backpack and two security systems from display shelves and left without paying for the items.
July 31
Four male juveniles—one from Oakbrook Terrace and three from Villa Park—were charged with criminal trespass to a residence in the 600 block of E. Harrison at around 7:35 p.m.
July 19, 2016-Feb. 19, 2017
Theft was reported at a motorcycle dealership. Police said an unknown suspect stole a license plate from the service department sometime between the above dates.
