DEE LONGFELLOW PHOTO Villa Park Independent Bride and groom’s first lesson in patience This young couple are enjoying their wedding day as best we can, despite the fact that a fire broke out at their reception which was taking place at Allegra Banquets on St. Charles Road in Villa Park on Saturday, Aug. 19. Guests of the two receptions taking place that evening were displaced to the parking lots for about two hours before they could return inside.
DEE LONGFELLOW PHOTO Villa Park Independent And the band played on… This four-piece band, hired to perform for one of the two weddings that took place at Allegra Banquets on Saturday, Aug. 19, continued to play for the guests who were forced into the parking lot after a fire broke out at the facility.

Watchful eyes…

These firefighters pause after extinguishing a blaze that broke out on Saturday, Aug. 19 at Allegra Banquets in Villa Park. The facility was hosting two wedding receptions at the time of the incident, forcing guests (in background) outside into the parking lot to wait for almost two hours. Vehicles from the fire departments of several area communities stepped up to help.
