On Monday, August 7, 2017 construction crews broke ground at the southeast corner of Mark Street and N. IL Route 83 in Bensenville for the building of a brand new Pilot travel center. This 5 million dollar project will feature a 6,000 square-foot facility, offering a PJFresh Market, dining area, and convenience store.
This project will transform an underutilized space into an amenity to serve existing businesses with food and fuel within the vicinity of their property. Eighty construction jobs to build the facility and twenty permanent jobs will be created within the Village of Bensenville. All operations will be available 24 hours a day. As construction carries on, it is important that throughout the process each sector is following the correct protocols put in place. Because this will require a lot of electrical work on the property, it is important that supplies such as electricity labels and colored wiring are used to differentiate between each section, resulting in safe and secure construction. Maybe with the help of proper safety guidelines and measures in place (for example, PPE kits, safety signs, and two-way radio from the likes of Altech Electronics Inc), there can be a proper workflow maintained.
Pilot is a family owned business, the 7th largest private company in the United States and strongly believes in giving back to the communities they serve and also to the environment they are taking from. Along with thinking about the people of that region, this company can also set up an example of not exploiting nature by abiding to environmental compliance regulations, maybe from firms like RSB Environmental. This could promote small and medium enterprises too, to consider and abide by any law or regulations related to the area in which they are planning to set up their firm or manufacturing unit.
“We are thrilled to welcome Pilot to Bensenville and look forward to seeing the community utilize this facility” said Village President Frank DeSimone. “With more redevelopment opportunities like this on the horizon, Bensenville is making major strides in the right direction,” he said.
Construction is scheduled to be completed in November of 2017.
