The York summer tennis teams fared well in recent action against the Butterfield Park District.
York downed Butterfield 8-1 in the 17 and under division and 12-0 in the 15 and under section to notch an overall 20-1 victory in Trident League action.
In the Trident League, each dual match consists of a college format where all levels are co-ed. York was 4-2 in summer-league play through late last week.
In the Butterfield match at Berens Park, in 17s action, Isabella Nicoli was an 8-5 winner at No. 2 singles. Jackie Riek was an 8-5 winner at No. 3 singles. In 15s action, Lauren Fonorow was an 8-0 winner at No. 1 singles, while Coco Conrardy was an 8-3 winner at No. 2 singles and Natalie Krauter was an 8-1 winner at No. 3 singles.
In 17s doubles, Nicoli and Eva Jacobsthal were 8-1 winners at the No. 1 position. Riek and Fonorow were 8-0 winners at No. 2 doubles and Conrardy and Krauter were 8-1 winners at No. 3 doubles.
In 15s play, Paul Nicoli was an 8-3 winner at No. 1 singles. Simon Krukowski was an 8-0 winner at No. 2 singles and Vincenzo Bono was an 8-4 winner at No. 3 singles. Regan Toole was an 8-6 winner at No. 4 singles, while Ella Pittman was an 8-5 winner at No. 5 singles. Reese Krauter was an 8-0 winner at No. 6 singles, while Samantha Kent was an 8-5 winner at No. 7 singles and Lauren Capuno was an 8-6 winner at No. 8 singles.
In 15s doubles, Paul Nicoli and Krukowski were 8-0 winners at No. 1 doubles. Bono and Toole were 8-4 winners at No. 2 doubles. Pittman and Reese Krauter were 8-3 winners at No. 3 doubles and Kent and Capuno were 8-4 winners at No. 4 doubles.
York also lost a recent 9-3 West Suburban League match to Western Springs Tennis Club. In this league, each dual consists of three singles and doubles matches in each of the 17 and under and 14 and under divisions.
In the match against Western Springs played at Spring Rock Park in Western Springs, T.J. Paul was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at 17s No. 2 singles. Darelle Menendie and Joanna Menendie were 6-2, 6-1 winners at No. 3 doubles at the 17s level.
York’s other point came in 14 doubles play where Michael Polowsky and Lauren Marquardt were 6-2, 6-1 winners at the No. 1 position.
In other recent summer action, York was an 8-4 winner over Western Springs in WSL action and scored a 7-5 win over Western Springs in Trident action. In the Trident match, four of the 12 matches went to tiebreakers.
In the WSL match at Berens, Gianna Nikoleit was a 6-0, 7-6 (3) winners at 17s singles action at the No. 2 position. Evan Sedlacek was a 6-2, 6-4 winner at No. 3 singles in 17s play.
Jonathan Nikoleit and Jalen Mactangay were 6-3, 6-1 winners at 17s No. 1 doubles, while Jack Fennel and Kevin Schultz were 6-4, 6-2 winners at 17s No. 2 doubles. Rachel Kayman and Fonorow were 6-1, 7-6 (1) winners at 17s No. 3 doubles.
At 15s, Isabel Brown was a 6-0, 6-1 winner at No. 3 singles. Paul Nicoli and Krukowski were 6-1, 6-2 winners at the No. 1 doubles position at 15s. Audrey Johnson and Natalie Warner were 7-5 ,6-2 winners at No. 3 doubles.
In Trident play at Spring Rock Park, Isabella Nicoli was a 9-8 (2) winner at No. 1 singles. Cara McGovern was an 8-0 winner at No. 4 singles, while Cara Well was an 8-1 winner at No. 5 singles and Sam Kent was an 8-6 winner at No. 6 singles.
Toole and Darelle Menendie were 9-8 (5) winners at No. 2 doubles. McGovern and Becca Morton were 8-2 winners at No. 4 doubles, while Kent and Well were 8-4 winners at No. 5 doubles.
York has identical 2-1 records in each summer league.
Through late last week, Paul Nicoli, Krukowski and Kent each had 4-0 records. Fonorow and Joanna Menendie were 3-0, while Toole and Reese Krauter each were 3-1. Isabella Nicoli and Natalie Krauter each were 3-2.
