On May 19, 2017, DuPage Habitat for Humanity held a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to welcome the Bish family to their new home in Bensenville. The ceremony included a house blessing, presentation of the keys and a ribbon cutting.

Tony Bish, a single father of four, had been struggling to support his family for years. He is a hard working veteran, but with a limited budget, an affordable place to live was simply out of reach.

“It has been a real turning point for us. DuPage Habitat for Humanity and all of the people who helped build our home have given us the sense of community we have longed for,” Bish said. “We now have hope for our family’s future and we finally have a place we are proud to call home. Kind people really show the rest of the world what we should all be doing for one another. Even the smallest gesture of kindness can shape a life.”

With the many great things the Village of Bensenville has to offer like brand new schools, great parks, and special events year-round, the Bish family has a lot to look forward to.

Like Bish, all Habitat homeowners help build their homes alongside volunteers. Once the construction has been completed, they pay an affordable mortgage, which gets invested back into the program to build more homes for other families in need. It is important that whilst building their new homes, they use professionals that can deal with specific areas of the construction to make them fit for living, for example, with the electrics such as wiring, it is important that the builders are supervised by a local electrician company similar to Middle Tennesee electrical services, for example, so there is minimal room for error. New homeowners don’t want to move in and have their first night without light, that is why it is essential for professionals to takeover or supervise.

The Village of Bensenville is excited to welcome the Bish family into the community and wishes them the best of luck in their future.
