The Timothy Christian boys track team took third at the recent Walther Christian Invitational and fifth at the Chicago Christian Invitational.
At Chicago Christian, Xavier Ross won the 110 high hurdles in 15.71 and also won the 300 intermediate hurdles in 40.58. Trojans coach John Vander Kamp noted both times are under state-qualifying marks.
Vander Kamp also noted a number of athletes have recorded season-best efforts. That list includes Bret Harbaugh in the discus (126-4), Tommy Troxel in the 800 (2:07.4), Chris Brooks in the 200 (24.42), Will Terpstra in the 1,600 (4:58.64) and Clint Fincher in the 3,200 (10:51.17).
Vander Kamp was pleased with the team’s relay efforts. Timothy’s 3,200 team took a fourth-place finish at the Chicago Christian event. That team includes Matt Fox, Alex Oldenburger, Jordan Scheidler and Terpstra. The 400 team of Isaiah Whitaker, Connor Teune, Camron Brady and Brooks took fifth at Chicago Christian.
The 800 relay team of Whitaker, Teune, Andrew Vogt and Brooks was sixth at Chicago Christian, while the 1,600 relay team of Whitaker, Troxel, Nate Bouman and Andrew Vogt took third at Chicago Christian.
“Overall, we continue to see good improvement,” said Vander Kamp.
Timothy competes at the Nalley Invitational in Bolingbrook Saturday.
