The Bensenville Police Department, with the assistance of the DuPage County Accident Reconstruction Team, is investigating a crash that occurred on April 28 at about 12:06 p.m. in the 200 block of W. Grand Ave.
According to the police report, a green Ford Escape was making a left turn from a parking lot located on the north side of the 200 block of W. Grand Ave., when it collided with a white extended cab Ford 250 pickup truck that was traveling west on Grand Avenue. The force of the collision caused the two vehicles to travel into the eastbound lanes where the pickup truck collided with a green Toyota Camry that was east bound.
The six occupants of the Ford Escape-ages 21, 9, 8, 5, 4 and 5 months-were taken to Elmhurst Memorial Hospital and Loyola University Medical Center for treatment. The 5-month-old was then transferred to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. The driver of the F250 pickup truck was transported to Elmhurst Memorial Hospital.
The driver of the Toyota refused treatment at the scene. All lanes of Grand Avenue were open again to traffic at about 3:30 p.m.
At this time, no charges have been filed, but the investigation remains ongoing and detectives are consulting with the DuPage County State’s Attorney Office.
