The Elmhurst Lacrosse organization’s 2017 season started this month.

Elmhurst Lacrosse is a non-profit organization run by parent volunteers and is dedicated to the development and instruction of boys lacrosse for players in grades second through eighth.

The season runs from April and registration starts in November. Games generally are scheduled on Saturday and Sunday with one to two games per week, beginning in mid-April until the regular season concludes in mid-June with the organization’s inter-Elmhurst Kings of Spring tournament. Games are played Saturday at Plunkett Athletic Complex and Sunday at Berens Park.

Elmhurst Lacrosse’s mission is to provide the youth of Elmhurst and surrounding areas with an inclusive and fun environment for players of all skill levels to learn and participate in the game of lacrosse, and to prepare the youth of Elmhurst and surrounding areas with the basic skills and understanding of the game to compete at the high-school level.

For the 2017 season, Elmhurst Lacrosse has nearly 240 kids participating. Games started on April 15. The season-ending Kings of Spring tournament is slated for June 3-4 at Berens.

Elmhurst Lacrosse also is focusing on its support of the Elmhurst community with a number of initiatives, including fundraisers to support a scholarship fund to offset costs for families in need, plus a food drive to be held at the Kings of Spring tournament.
