Zafar, Masys advance in 3-point shooting contest.

The Willowbrook boys basketball team was upset by District 88 neighbor Addison Trail in the semifinals of the Class 4A Batavia regional.
Willowbrook came into the regional as the No. 5 seed in the Hinsdale Central sectional. Addison Trail was the No. 12 seed. The Blazers defeated the Warriors by an 81-67 count.
Willowbrook had beaten Addison Trail twice during the West Suburban Conference Gold Division portion of the season by scores of 74-51 and 50-38.
Willowbrook, which set a program record for wins in a season, finished the year 24-5 overall and shared the WSC Gold title with two other teams. The Warriors lost their last three games of the season.
Willowbrook advances two in 3-point contest
Two Willowbrook boys basketball players will continue their seasons in the Class 4A state 3-point shooting contest.
Sikander Zafar and Matas Masys both advanced out of the Class 4A Batavia regional and will shoot at the Class 4A Hinsdale Central sectional this week for an opportunity to qualify for the Class 4A state finals in Peoria at Carver Arena.
Willowbrook baseball
A pair of Willowbrook baseball players announced their college plans recently. Senior Ben Espinoza is headed to the University of Wisconsin-Plateville.
Fellow senior Will Hines will continue his career at Elgin Community College.
Addison Trail-Willowbrook boys swimming
The Addison Trail-Willowbrook boys swimming team was eighth at the recent Downers Grove South sectional with 55 points.
AT-Willowbrook finished eighth in the medley relay with a time of 1:47.68. That team included Evan Zimmerman, Lucas Walsh, Jake Roucka and Jacob Grygo.
Jack Burns was 13th in the 200 with a time of 1:54.57. Zimmerman placed 11th in the 200 IM with a time of 2:10.22. Rouka was 15th in the event at 2:15.23.
Grygo finished 10th in the 50 with a time of 23.46. Mikey Strycharz was 11th at 23.52.
Roucka was 15th in the butterfly with a time of 1:01.06. Burns was 13th in the 100 with a time of 51.47, while Strycharz was 14th at 51.49.
Jack Wentworth was 16th in the 500 with a time of 5:33.83.
AT-Willowbrook was fifth in the 200 relay with a time of 1:32.01 with a team that included Zimmerman, Grygo, Burns and Strycharz.
Zimmerman finished ninth in the backstroke with a time of 58.01. Lucas Walsh was 16th in the breaststroke with a time of 1:08.93.
AT-Willowbrook finished seventh in the 400 relay with a time of 3:26.25 with Grygo, Wentworth, Strycharz and Burns.
