Cantigny celebrates Women’s History Month
March events include Clara Barton and Alice Paul living history performances. February 22, through March is Women’s History Month and Cantigny Park will mark the occasion with four events at the Robert R. McCormick Museum, 1 S 151 Winfield, Wheaton. All are free to attend with $5 paid parking.
Saturday, March 11 from 12-3 p.m.
McCormick Museum Gold Theatre
The museum continues its 2017 Second Saturday series with a celebration of the 19th Amendment, which in 1919 granted women the right to vote. Visitors can make suffragette sashes and pins, and visit a mock voting booth to make their voices heard! Second Saturday is a free drop-in program for families with a different theme each month; no registration is necessary.

Living history actress and scholar Leslie Goddard portrays Alice Paul, an American pioneer in the cause of women’s suffrage (right to vote). The program is ideal for families and children ages 10 and up. It is free attend but advance registration is required: 630.260.8162 or [email protected].

Museum tour guide Laurie Russell examines the history of female journalists at the Chicago Tribune, the newspaper where Cantigny benefactor Robert R.
