The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.
Criminal damage to property/motor vehicle/criminal trespass to property/motor vehicle/damage to city property
Jan. 23
A complainant in the 100 block of W. Arthur who owns a marketing communications firm told police his business server had stopped working earlier in the day. It was discovered the server room window had been shattered, causing the system to fail. Subsequent to an investigation, an unknown suspect was determined to have caused the damage. Charges are pending.
Jan. 22
Grayson Murtagh, 18, of Bartlett, was arrested in the 100 block of S. York at around 8:17 p.m. Subsequent to a call for a person allegedly pulling on car handles, police said Murtagh was located, and became very uncooperative. After a brief struggle, the suspect was placed under arrest, according to police. He was charged with criminal trespass to property, consumption of alcohol by a minor and resisting arrest.
Disorderly conduct
Jan. 24
Daniel Marcuccilli, 20, of Lombard, was arrested at the Adelaide Parking Garage at around 2:02 a.m. Police said Marcuccilli was found urinating in the garage. He was charged with disorderly conduct/befouling property.
Domestic battery
Jan. 24
A 45-year-old Elmhurst man was arrested in the 100 block of E. Cayuga at around 2:22 a.m. Subsequent to a verbal argument, the victim told police the suspect struck her in the head. The victim locked herself in the bathroom and the suspect kicked the door in. The suspect was charged with domestic battery.
Jan. 23
A 32-year-old Elmhurst man was arrested in the 100 block of Fellows Court at around 11:15 p.m. Subsequent to a 9-1-1 investigation, police said the victim reported her ex-boyfriend returned to the apartment in violation of a domestic battery bail bond for which he was charged. Officers found the suspect hiding in a bedroom closet.
Jan. 21
Police said a victim in the 300 block of Ridgeland arrived at the police department at around 4:15 a.m. to report a domestic between her and her boyfriend. She said that during an argument he grabbed her arm and hit her on the back.
DUI/DUI-drugs/illegal consumption/possession of alcohol by a minor/public intoxication
Jan. 26
A 38-year-old Elmhurst woman was arrested in the 500 block of N. Indiana at around 2:25 a.m. and charged with domestic battery. Police said the suspect punched the victim in the mouth subsequent to a verbal argument.
Jan. 24
Marvin Gomez, 18; Adrian Gualito, 19; and Jonathan Statkiewicz, 18, all of Chicago, along with four juveniles, were arrested at a hotel in the 400 block of W. Lake at around 12:46 a.m. Police said officers responded for the complaint of teenagers running in the parking lot of the above location. All the suspects were found to have consumed alcohol and were under 21, according to police. All were charged with consumption of alcohol by a minor.

• Becca Dick, 22, of Lisle, was arrested in the 900 block of N. York at around 12:36 a.m. Subsequent to a traffic stop, police said Dick was found to be DUI-drugs. She was charged with DUI, use of an electronic communications device and making an improper turn.
• Brianna Zeman, 20, of Peru, Ill., was arrested at a bar in the 100 block of S. York at around 11:14 p.m. Subsequent to a business check, police said Zeman was located and admitted to providing a false ID to staff. She was charged with false use of an ID.
Jan. 22
• Aliuddin Ahmed, 19, of Elmhurst, was arrested near First and Maple at around 10:41 p.m. Police said Ahmed was found to be in possession of alcohol in a red plastic cup while on the sidewalk at the above location. He was under 21 and was charged with possession of alcohol by a minor.
• Alyssa Caputo, 20, of Elmhurst, was arrested at a bar in the 100 block of S. York at around 11:57 p.m. Police said Caputo was found at the above location drinking alcohol, and was found to be under 21. She was charged with minor on licensed premise and consumption of alcohol by a minor.
• Matthew Dufort, 19, of Elmhurst, was arrested at a liquor store in the 600 block of W. St. Charles Road at around 9:46 p.m. Police said Dufort was observed pushing a cart with purchased liquor and appeared to be under 21. He was found to have purchased the liquor using an identification of another person, according to police. He was charged with possession of alcohol by a minor and using the identification of another person to purchase alcohol.
• Jonathan Garnett, 19, of Clarendon Hills was arrested near St. Charles and Prospect at around 1:23 a.m. Police said an officer observed Garnett walking at the above location, and was found to be in possession of alcohol while being under 21. He was charged with possession of alcohol by a minor.
• Marissa Guzman, 18, of Addison, was arrested at a liquor store in the 500 block of W. North Ave. at around 9:08 p.m. Subsequent to the report of a suspicious vehicle, police said Guzman was found to be in possession of a false ID and in possession of alcohol, for which she as charged.
• Tiana Palumbo, 18, of Algonquin, and Loredana Lappano, 19, of Des Plaines, were arrested at a bar in the 100 block of N. York at around 10:58 p.m. Police said officers observed a group of individuals who appeared to be under the age of 21 at the above location. Upon making contact with the individuals, they stated they were under the age of 21 and were getting ready to leave the bar. While speaking with them, police said officers smelled the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from their breath. Both were charged with consumption of alcohol by a minor.
Harassment
Jan. 22
Victims in the 100 block of E. Third told police that threatening notes were left in each of their lockers on the dry erase board. They believe they left their lockers unlocked. Due to previous issues with the suspects, they were contacted regarding the notes but denied writing them.
Leaving the scene of an accident
Jan. 24
Darryl Woodard, 20, of Broadview, was arrested near North and Ferndale at around 1:06 a.m. Police said Woodard fled and was later taken into custody by the DuPage County Sheriff. He was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, failure to reduce speed and no valid driver’s license.
Possession of cannabis/drug paraphernalia/controlled substance/tobacco
Jan. 25
Michael Weinreis, 24, of Melrose Park, was arrested near York and Belden at around 5:04 p.m. Subsequent to a traffic stop, police said Weinreis was found to be in possession of cannabis and drug paraphernalia. He was charged with possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia and tinted windows.

Antony Marin, 19, of Chicago, was arrested at a hotel in the 400 block of W. Lake at around 2:04 a.m. Police said officers responded to a report of a loud party, and Marin was located and found to be intoxicated and under 21. He also was found to have been smoking “DAB” from his vape pen, according to police. He was charged with consumption of alcohol by a minor and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Dante McDonald, 18, of Lombard, along with two juveniles, were arrested near St. Charles and West at around 9:17 p.m. Subsequent to a traffic stop, police said 4 grams of cannabis was located along with alcohol. Juvenile 1 was charged with possession of alcohol by a minor and possession of cannabis. McDonald was charged with possession of cannabis. Juvenile 2 was charged with obstructed view and graduated driver’s license (passengers).

Carlos Escobar, 19, of Bellwood, was issued a citation near Butterfield and Cadwell at around 4:29 p.m. Subsequent to a traffic stop, police said Escobar was found to be in possession of cannabis and possession of alcohol by a minor. He was cited for possession of cannabis, possession of alcohol by a minor and tinted windows.
Suspicious circumstances
Jan. 26
A complainant in the 600 block of S. Mitchell Ave. told police that a vehicle with LED lights on the front bumper followed her from Route 53-Butterfield Road to her home.
Jan. 19
A victim near West and Armitage told police while walking home from school at the end of the day he observed a beige pickup truck driving northbound on West behind the victim at a slow speed. The victim turned on westbound Armitage and the truck turned as well. The victim then headed back towards West Avenue at which time the truck passed him made a U-Turn and left the area. At no time did the vehicle attempt to make contact with victim.

Jan. 27
• Patrick Fortney, 37, of Northlake; Tracey A. Colletti, 38, of Park Ridge; and Tammye D. Hamilton, 45, of Bellwood, were arrested at a local store in the 900 block of S. York at around 2:33 a.m. Subsequent to a shoplifting report, police said the suspects were located, stopped and taken into custody near Marion and Kenilworth. Fortney was charged with felony retail theft. According to police, both Colletti and Hamilton were found to be in possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia and were charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and felony unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
• A victim in the 500 block of S. York told police that an unknown suspect(s) attempted to use her debit card number to withdraw funds from her account using an ATM. The victim has the debit card in her possession. An investigation is pending.
Jan. 26
A victim in the 900 block of S. York told police that during the above date and times, an unknown suspect(s) used one $100 and one $20 counterfeit bill.
Jan. 22
A victim in the 300 block of May Street told police someone had fraudulently opened a credit card account with some of his personal information. He had already contacted the Federal Trade Commission but wanted to make a matter-of-record report.
Jan. 21
• Police said an unknown suspect removed the tailgate from a victim’s truck in the 400 block of W. Wrightwood at around 11:44 a.m. An officer spoke with the victim, who stated that the tailgate was on the vehicle when he parked it this morning.
• A victim at a recreational center in the 100 block of S. West Ave. told police that an unknown suspect(s) shattered the rear passenger side window of her vehicle while it was parked at the center. She said items had been removed from the vehicle.
• A victim at a local school in the 100 block of S. Prospect told police that an unknown suspect(s) removed the spare tire cover from her vehicle.
• A victim in the 200 block of S. Fairview Ave. told police they were supposed to receive two packages today, but were notified by their neighbor that he had seen 2 young men park a red SUV in front of the home, run to the front porch, remove the packages and flee the scene.
Dec. 2, 2015-Jan. 21
A complainant in the 300 block of N. Shady Lane told police that an unknown suspect(s) made 43 fraudulent purchases on her business checking account between the above dates.
Jan. 13
Identity theft was reported in the 400 block of Cottage Hill at around 11:04 a.m. A victim told police that while she was on her computer, a pop-up message alerted her to a possible virus. She called the phone number listed, spoke with a person whom she believed was Microsoft representative and provided information and access to her computer. She said the person seemed to be properly diagnosing her computer issue, but during that call, her son saw what was happening and immediately removed the battery to prevent further access. While monitoring her bank account history over the past few days, a fraudulent charge showed up on her account.

Identity theft was reported in the 600 block of W. Gladys. A victim told police he received a notification from his bank advising him of his bank credit card balance. The victim stated that he does not have a credit card with that particular bank and has not received any further notification other than that original letter. An investigation is pending.
Warrant service
Jan. 26
Damen Mlejnek, 22, of Norridge, was arrested near Addison and North at around 11:05 a.m. Subsequent to a traffic stop, police said an officer learned that the suspect was wanted on an original warrant by the Villa Park Police Department. Mlejnek also was cited for disobeying a traffic control device.
Jan. 23
Tarek Gabr, 35, of Bolingbrook, was arrested at a hotel in the 400 block of W. Lake at around 1:08 a.m. Police said Gabr was found to be wanted on a warrant out of DuPage County.
