The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.
Assault
Nov. 10
Dylan B. Kelenzon, 21, of Kildeer, Ill., was arrested near Park and Adell at around 5:32 a.m. Police said an officer responded to the report of a cab driver who pulled a knife on another cab driver. According to police, Kelenzon and the victim had been arguing over a GPS that was sold to the victim. Kelenzon was attempting to get the victim’s attention while in his cab so he began pounding on the window of his cab, police said. When the victim got out of his cab, Kelenzon reportedly pulled a knife on him. Kelenzon was charged with aggravated assault and disorderly conduct.
Child endangerment
Nov. 9
An offender was arrested at a school in the 200 block of E. Crescent at around 3:59 p.m. Police said the offender arrived at the school to pick up children at 3 p.m., and was intoxicated. The victim contacted her father via cellphone, who responded to the area to get the children. The offender was charged with endangering the life of a child.

Nov. 5
A victim at a recreational facility in the 100 block of S. West told police that an unknown suspect(s) had scratched the paint on his vehicle while it was parked unattended in the facility’s parking lot.
Disorderly conduct/mischievous conduct/disturbance
Nov. 8
Richard Bogusz, 22, of Elmhurst, was cited in the 100 block of W. Park Ave. at around 1:16 a.m. Police said an officer observed Bogusz urinating onto the roadway. He was issued a citation for disorderly conduct/befouling property.
Nov. 7
Officers responded to an area near St. Charles and Route 83 at around 2:40 p.m. to the report of a fight in progress. Upon arrival, all involved parties had fled the scene, according to police. An officer was able to obtain information on one of the involved suspects. An investigation is pending.
Nov. 5
A suspect at a local hospital in the 1200 block of S. York Road was reportedly upset because his medical referral was not in the system, and he was going to have to pay out of pocket or reschedule his appointment. Police said after the suspect argued with staff, he said, “You are lucky I don’t shoot you guys.” The suspect left the office. No one wanted to sign complaints.
Domestic incident
Police said a victim got into an argument with her father because she was trying to go stay at her boyfriend’s house instead of going to her mom’s house. According to police, the father did grab the victim to prevent her from leaving the house, but that was the only contact. The daughter agreed to go stay with her mom for the weekend as planned.
DUI/DUI-drugs/illegal consumption/possession of alcohol
Nov. 9
Decynthia Clements, 32,of Elgin, was arrested near York and Crestview at around 12:32 a.m. Subsequent to a traffic stop, police said Clements was found to be DUI. She was charged with two counts of DUI, improper lane usage and no insurance.
Nov. 8
Miguel Diaz, 40, of Addison, was arrested near Lake and Grand at around 2:07 a.m. Subsequent to a traffic stop, police said Diaz was found to be intoxicated. He was charged with two counts of DUI and disobeying a traffic control device.
Endangerment
Nov. 7
Cristal Huerta, 33, of Des Plaines, was arrested in the 400 block of W. Wrightwood at around 3:29 p.m. Subsequent to a call of a DUI driver, police said the vehicle was located with Huerta, who was intoxicated, and her two children. Huerta was charged with two counts of DUI, endangering the life of a child, driving while license revoked and improper lane usage.
Harassment
Nov. 8
Harassment was reported in the 300 block of N. Myrtle at around 4:23 p.m. A victim told police that he received three threatening text messages from his former son-in-law. A message was left for the former son-in-law by police informing him to have no further contact with the victim.
Nov. 7
A victim told police that an unknown suspect threated via telephone to “beat her up” and to “keep her mouth shut.” An additional investigation is pending.
Possession of cannabis/drug paraphernalia/controlled substance/tobacco
Nov. 5
• Dylan Traynor, 18, of Westchester, and Jeremy Reyes, 19, of Berkeley, were arrested at a pharmacy in the 100 block of W. North Ave. at around 10:16 p.m. Subsequent to a drug investigation, police said cannabis was recovered from the suspects’ motor vehicle. Traynor was charged with possession of cannabis, while Reyes was charged with attempted theft by deception.
• Subsequent to the report of a suspicious auto near Cayuga and York, police said the suspects were found to be in possession of multiple prescription drugs. The suspects were released pending laboratory results.
Sale of tobacco to a minor
Nov. 11
Rachel Abata, 41, of Villa Park; Bobin Baby, 18, of Westmont; and Tomy Mathew, 56, of Wheaton, were cited in separate incidents at different Shell gas stations during a city-wide tobacco compliance check. Abata was cited for unlawfully selling a pack of cigarettes to a minor at the True North Shell station in the 600 block of W. North Ave. at 6:37 p.m. Baby was cited for unlawfully selling a pack of cigarettes to a minor at a Shell station in the 300 block of W. Butterfield at around 6:41 p.m. Mathew was cited for unlawfully selling a pack of cigarettes to a minor at a Shell station in the 100 block of W. Third St. at around 7 p.m. Kristian Williams, 19, of Hillside, also was cited during a city-wide tobacco compliance check. She was cited for unlawfully selling a pack of cigarettes to a minor at a Jewel-Osco in the 100 block of E. Schiller St. at around 7:21 p.m.

Nov. 10-Nov. 11
Burglary to a motor vehicle was reported in the 400 block of N. Oak. A victim told police that unknown suspect(s) entered his unlocked vehicle and removed an unspecified amount of cash, lottery tickets and cigarettes from it. The victim will sign complaints if the suspect is located.
Sept. 9-Nov. 11
A complainant in Elk Creek told police that his wife’s diamond earrings are missing. The last time they saw the earrings is around Sept. 9.
Nov. 5-Nov. 10
A victim in the 500 block of N. Willow told police he received a recruitment letter asking him to be a secret shopper for Walmart, MoneyGram and 7-Eleven. The victim followed the steps requested to deposit and withdrawal funds from his bank account. The victim completed the first transaction and became suspicious after the second transaction. It was determined the checks being deposited were fraudulent.
Nov. 9
• Keon Dillard, 19, of Northlake, was arrested at a food store in the 600 block of N. York at around 12:03 p.m. Police said Dillard was detained by store security after stealing two bottles of alcohol totaling $40.98. The suspect also admitted to stealing two bottles of alcohol on Nov. 5, according to police. Dillard was charged with two counts of retail theft.
• John K. Schlachter, 61, of Hines, Ill., was arrested at a food store/pharmacy in the 900 block of S. York at around 9:05 a.m. Police said officers responded to the report of a retail theft. Upon arrival, Schlachter was located and found to have a valid failure to appear warrant out of DuPage County, according to police. Schlachter also was charged with retail theft and battery.
• Identity theft was reported in the 200 block of N. Ridgeland. A victim told police that an unknown suspect used her debit card to make two unauthorized purchases in Niles.
Nov. 8
• Michael Huffar, 21, of Joliet, and Sergio Lopez, 21, of Elmhurst, were arrested in the 100 block of N. Larch at around 2:11 a.m. Police said an officer observed a group of males walking at North and Maple with an American flag on a metal pole. They attempted to hide the flag upon seeing the officer, according to police. Following an investigation, police said Lopez was arrested for possession of stolen goods and Huffar was arrested for theft. The flag was found to belong to a victim at 100 block of No. Larch. Both were cited for theft.
• A victim in the 900 block of Fairfield told police he was notified by his credit card company of a possible unauthorized transaction on his card. The victim stated that an unknown suspect attempted two transactions involving his credit card, which was in his possession. The first transaction went through. The second transaction was denied. The credit card company closed the account and a new credit card was issued.
Nov. 7
• A vehicle was reported stolen at gas station in the 200 block of E. Butterfield at around 5:17 p.m. A towing company told police than an unknown suspect hired their services to remove a yellow Caterpillar Skidsteer from the gas station parking lot. Police said the suspect requested that the skidsteer be towed to Roosevelt and Cicero Avenue. The tow operator became suspicious that he was being hired to transport a stolen piece of equipment and contacted his office, which requested police response. During this time the suspect left the scene, leaving the skidsteer. It was determined that the skidsteer was taken from a construction site and then abandoned in the 200 block of E. Butterfield.
• A victim in the 500 block of Edgewood told police that he received a telephone call from a person identifying himself as the victim’s grandson. He stated that he was involved in a traffic accident and that the public defender would call the victim back with instructions. Another person contacted the victim, instructed him to go to a Walmart in Villa Park and wire $1,779.90 to an address in New York. The victim complied, and then later realized that he had been defrauded.
Nov. 7-Nov. 8
An officer responded to the 100 block of E. Belden at around 9:18 a.m. to the report of a stolen vehicle. Upon the officer’s arrival, the complainant told police that an unknown suspect took her brother’s vehicle without permission. The incident was documented for a matter of record only due to it being a civil matter.
Oct. 31-Nov. 7
A victim told police he believes that his father, whom he said is most likely homeless, took $250 from a lock box that was located in the basement of the residence. The suspect was observed at the residence in recent days.
Nov. 6
Keith Davis, 44, of Chicago, and Caldwell Dugar, 45, of Minneapolis, were arrested at a store in 300 block of S. Route 83. Subsequent to observing a suspicious vehicle at the store, an officer conducted a traffic stop on the suspects’ vehicle. Police said the officer observed numerous clothing items with store tags in the vehicle. According to police, Dugar admitted to stealing items from the store. Police said Davis was found to be wanted out of Minnesota. Dugar was charged with theft, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and no seat belt. Davis was charged with being a fugitive from justice, obstructing identification, driving while license suspended, failure to signal, and no insurance.
Nov. 5
• Retail theft was reported at a food store/pharmacy in the 900 block of S. York Road at around 11:48 a.m. The store’s liquor manager told police that a suspect, described as a black female with black hair, wearing a white coat, black pants and carrying a black bag, was observed in the liquor department. Police said the suspect filled an empty black bag with liquor, and left the store without paying for them. She then came back inside the store, and returned to the liquor department with the same black bag that was now empty. The manager walked up to her and asked if she was going to buy anything today. She then exited the store, with another full bag of liquor. A description of the suspect’s car and Illinois registration were recorded.
• Fraud was reported in the 100 block of E. Belden at around 1:10 p.m. A victim told police that an unknown suspect cashed a check without the victim’s authorization. The victim wished to sign complaints.
Nov. 4
A victim in the 200 block of Kimball was advised through an identity theft monitoring company that two accounts had been opened under his name. The victim told police he also was a victim of identity theft last year.
Trespass notice
Officers responded to a car wash and laundromat in the 900 block of N. York to the report of an unknown suspect who was reportedly yelling at the laundromat employee about the broken washing machines. The suspect was served with a no trespass order.
Unlawful use of a weapon
Nov. 7
Matthew Shulda, 22, of Elmhurst, was arrested near a pub in the 100 block of S. York Road at around 1:43 a.m. Police said Shulda was found to be in possession of a stun gun after he was seen brandishing it while outside of the above location. An officer took possession of the stun gun and placed it into evidence, according to police. Shulda was charged with unlawful use of a weapon.
