Mayor Steve Morley to serve as Grand Marshal

Steve Morley Elmhurst MayorThis year, the Grand Marshal of the 21st Annual Elmhurst St. Patrick’s Day Parade will be Elmhurst Mayor Steve Morley.

After being elected Alderman of the 6th Ward in 2007, he was re-elected for a second in 2011. As an alderman, he served on the Finance, Council Affairs & Administrative Services Committee and the Development Planning & Zoning Committee, which he also chaired. Morley was also on the Elmhurst Retail Business Grant Committee and the TIF 1 Joint Review Board.

In April 2013, Morley was elected Mayor and is currently seeking another term in the upcoming spring election for which he is running unopposed. As mayor, Morley has focused on ongoing infrastructure improvements, business and economic development and continues looking for efficiencies in city operations an opportunities to reduce spending.

He serves on several boards and commissions in his role as mayor such as the Commission on Youth, the Historic Preservation Commission, DuPage County Green Government Council and the Lizzadro Museum of Lapitdary Art. He is a member of the Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce & Industry and the DuPage Mayors and Managers Conference, where he serves on the legislative committee.

Born and raised in Elmhurst, Steve graduated from York High School in 1986 and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Iowa, where he graduated in 1991. He is a marketing professional who lives in Elmhurst with his wife Nancy and their children Reed, Jeanette and Anna.
