Police arrest three for passing counterfeit bills

On Monday afternoon, Nov. 28, the Independent learned that on November 15 at 8 p.m., the Elmhurst police responded to the 100 block of York Road, where a male subject had attempted to pass a counterfeit $100-dollar bill at a retail establishment. According to a release issued by Police Chief Michael Ruth, officers located the subject along with several others in a parking lot at York Rd. and North Ave. Subsequent investigation revealed that the subjects had successfully passed a counterfeit bill at a restaurant in Elmhurst and at a restaurant in Oak Brook.

Pierre J. West, 26, Marcus Buchannon, 46, and Cordale Carroll, 29, all of Chicago, were arrested and charged with Felony Forgery and transported DuPage County Jail.

Elmhurst police continue to caution businesses on counterfeit bills, extra care should be used when receiving $50- and $100-dollar bills.
