Willowbrook High School’s dance team earned a berth in the upcoming IHSA state meet with its performance at the Jan. 22 sectional competition at Geneva High School. Willowbrook was one of 15 teams to compete in the sectional’s 2A-2 level. The Warriors earned a fourth-place finish in Geneva; their sectional routine earned a score of 84.77. The level’s top six teams advanced to the state meet, which will take place Jan. 28-29 at Grossinger Motors Arena in Bloomington. Willowbrook’s dance team also qualified for last year’s IHSA state meet, which took place virtually because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead of traveling to Bloomington last year, Willowbrook and all other state-qualifying teams recorded their performances at their own schools and submitted the recordings to the IHSA’s panel of judges. Willowbrook placed 16th out of 30 qualifying teams in the 2021 state meet’s 2A division.
