Willowbrook’s girls basketball team opened its season with a 51-50 loss to York on Feb. 12 in Elmhurst. Senior Gracie Tumilty (No. 21) of the Warriors is pictured while driving toward the basket late in the fourth quarter. Tumilty drove to the hoop and scored to break a 47-47 tie. She was fouled on the shot and made the subsequent free throw to complete a three-point play that gave Willowbrook a 50-47 lead with 1:08 remaining. The Dukes made a free throw a few seconds later to cut the Warriors’ lead to 50-48. York delivered a three-point play of its own to take a 51-50 lead with 12.8 seconds to play. Junior Sophie Sullivan made six 3-point shots and poured in 25 points for Willowbrook. Senior Taris Thornton added 10 points. Tumilty, who missed her junior basketball season with a knee injury, contributed nine points.
