Police Reports

The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Persons charged with domestic battery are not named in order to protect the privacy of victims. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.

Domestic battery, domestic incident, disorderly conduct, damage to property, disturbance

Jan. 4

A 34-year-old Elmhurst man was charged with two counts of domestic battery in the 700 block of S. Saylor at around 2:49 a.m. A victim told police that subsequent to a verbal argument, the suspect punched her in the face numerous times. Officers observed injuries to the victim’s forehead, nose and face. The suspect’s knuckles on both hands were red and swollen, and he refused to provide officers with information about the incident.

A 37-year-old Elmhurst man was charged with two counts of domestic battery in the 1000 block of S. York at around 7:45 p.m. A victim told police that the suspect struck her in the face after a verbal argument and sustained an injury under her right eye. The suspect told police the argument was verbal and nothing physical occurred.

Dec. 31

A 63-year-old Elmhurst man was charged with two counts of domestic battery, resisting arrest, two counts of aggravated assault and disorderly conduct in the 200 block of E. Fremont at around 2:04 p.m. A victim told police that the suspect slapped her on the right side of her face and slammed a refrigerator on her arm. According to police, officers attempted to place the suspect under arrest when he attempted to kick and bite officers.

A victim told police at around 5:51 p.m. that a suspect became verbally abusive, using vulgar language, and spat in his face. The victim did not wish to sign complaints and is in contact with DCFS.

Dec. 30

A victim told police at around 12:27 p.m. at Elmhurst Hospital that he was battered by a group of unknown suspects and sustained an injury to his leg. The victim refused to relay any further information for fear of retaliation. The incident was found to have occurred in Elmwood Park. A reporting notified the Elmwood Police Department.

DUI, DUI-drugs, illegal transportation of alcohol

Jan. 4

Tyashana R. Williams, 23, of Chicago, was charged with illegal transportation of alcohol and no valid driver’s license subsequent to a traffic stop near York and Industrial at around 11:20 p.m.

Jan. 3

Rosemary Hamilton, 53, of Chicago, was charged with DUI, speeding, improper lane usage and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near E. North and I-290 at around 12:40 a.m.

Jan. 1

Kymberly A. Dixon, 33, of Chicago, was charged with DUI, illegal transportation of open alcohol, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, injuring property, no valid registration, improper use of registration and no insurance subsequent to a single vehicle crash in the 300 block of N. Myrtle at around 5:38 a.m.

Jacob Fraker, 30, of Chicago, was charged with DUI, possession of adult use cannabis in a vehicle and improper lane usage subsequent to a traffic stop near North and Berteau at around 1:25 a.m.

Demetrius McPherson, 28, of Maywood, was charged with DUI alcohol/drugs, illegal transportation of alcohol, no valid driver’s license, improper display of registration, failure to signal and no seat belt subsequent to a traffic stop near E. North and N. Villa at around 12:01 a.m. Lenetrice Johnson, 28, of Chicago, was issued citations for unlawful possession of cannabis in a vehicle and no seat belt. Ciara Johnson, 24, and Veronica Cullens, 28, both of Chicago, were issued citations for open liquor in a vehicle and no seat belt. All were passengers in the vehicle.

Raymond J. Simmons, 26, of Chicago, was charged with DUI-drugs, driving while license suspended, improper lane usage and no insurance subsequent to a single-car accident near W. North and N. Addison at around 2 p.m. Police said Simmons was found unconscious behind the wheel.

Bruce Tripp, 50, of Chicago, was charged with DUI, illegal transportation of alcohol, possession of cannabis in a vehicle and improper lane usage subsequent to a traffic stop near S. York at E. St. Charles at around 2:27 a.m.

Dec. 31

Dalibor Miljkovic, 46, of Lyons, was charged with DUI in the 600 block of W. North at around 5:32 p.m.

Jessica Franco, 20, of Chicago, was issued citations for possession of alcohol by a minor, illegal transportation of open alcohol, possession of cannabis paraphernalia by a minor and speeding subsequent to a traffic stop near S. Route 83 and W. St. Charles at around 9:32 p.m.

Harassment, threats

Dec. 17-Jan. 4

Zachery R. Murphy, 22, of Elmhurst, was charged with harassment through electronic communications in the 400 block of S. Prospect. Police said Murphy admitted to contacting the victim between the above dates.

Jan. 3

Police said a reporting officer met with a complainant in the 800 block of S. Fairfield at around 5:48 p.m. who stated she received numerous text messages and emails from the suspect after filing an order of protection. The reporting officer contacted the suspect who agreed to have no further contact with the complainant.

Dec. 31

A victim on Donald Court told police at around 2:13 p.m. that he received threatening text messages from the suspect. The victim did not respond to the text messages, but wants the incident documented.

Possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance

Jan. 5

Joshua Coffey, 28, of Chicago, was issued citations for possession of adult use cannabis in a vehicle and speeding subsequent to a traffic stop near N. York and Crestview at around 11:19 a.m.

Jan. 4

Dylan M. Valdez, 23, of Elmhurst, was issued citations for possession of cannabis by the driver, avoiding a traffic control device and no insurance, while Marc Sylvie, 25, of Addison, a passenger in the vehicle, was cited for possession of cannabis by a passenger subsequent to a traffic stop near Gladys and Van Auken at around 2:38 p.m.

Jan. 2

Franshun Jordan, 19, of Melrose Park, was issued citations for possession of cannabis in a vehicle and tinted windows subsequent to a traffic stop in the 300 block of W. St. Charles at around 10 p.m.

Suspicious circumstances

Dec. 30

A victim in the 200 block of No. Maple told police at around 3:33 p.m. that an unknown suspect(s) used his personal information to attempt to purchase a vehicle. The reporting officer spoke to an employee who stated the suspect filed the inquiry online and they have not further information on the suspect.

Theft/burglary/attempted theft or burglary/identity theft/fraud/forgery/deceptive practice/obstruction/robbery

Jan. 4

Retail theft was reported at a pharmacy in the 100 block of W. North at around 4:04 a.m. A complainant told police that a suspect entered the store and walked directly to the liquor aisle. She observed that one side of the suspect’s jacket was hanging lower than the other and heard bottles clanking as he exited the store. The suspect entered a red, older model sedan and was last seen headed eastbound on North Avenue.

Dec. 30

Deceptive practice was reported in the 400 block of S. Prairie at around 10:29 a.m. A victim told police he wire- transferred money to an unknown suspect living in Texas. The victim later wire-transferred money to an unknown suspect in Ghana. After the transactions were completed, the victim received a fraud alert from his bank.

Dec. 18-Dec. 30

Forgery was reported in the 400 block of S. Spring. A complainant told police that a check was intercepted in the mail and fraudulently deposited in the suspect’s bank account sometime between the above dates. The case is pending investigation.

Unemployment benefits identity theft

Oct. 1-Jan. 6

Between the above dates, the Elmhurst Police Department reported 38 incidents of identity theft with the intention of using a victim’s personal information to fraudulently apply for unemployment benefits through the Illinois Department of Employment Security.

Unlawful use of a weapon

Dec. 30

Jeffrey Mustari, 65, of Melrose Park, was charged with unlawful use of weapon and possession of cannabis by the driver in the 400 block of N. York at around 11:10 p.m. Police said Mustari was found to be in possession of brass knuckles.
