WILLIAM DEXTER GRIFFITH
William Dexter Griffith, 81, passed away on January 4, 2021 at home in Queen Creek, Arizona. He was the husband of Lynda Lou Griffith, they shared 45 years of marriage together.
Born in West Frankfort, Illinois, he was the son of George and Louise Griffith. He graduated from Glenbard West H.S. in Glen Ellyn. He worked at Glenbard East H.S. and finished his career as the Building Facilitator Manager for Dist. 87. He loved working with the schools and made many lasting friendships with his fellow colleagues.
Dexter and Lynda retired to South Haven, Michigan, in 2001 and made many dear and lasting friends in their little community. He was a member of the S.H. Black River Lions Club, he was always willing to do whatever was needed but was known for his annual golf outing that he planned and orchestrated that raised a lot of money for their chapter. He enjoyed sailing, golf, playing cards and making people smile.
He is survived by his spouse, Lynda; Children, Kash, Gary (Jeff), Kelly (Ken), Michael (Christy), Lisa (Craig); Grandchildren, Nathan, Nicholas, Tyler, Isaac, Joseph and Seamus; Brother Paul (Susan); Nieces; Nephews; and Cousins. He loved all of his children and grandchildren and was happiest when he was with them. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Richard and Joseph, and sister Fran.
A celebration of Dexter’s life will be held in Illinois when we can have family and friends together in the near future, details to follow.

ERIN RYAN
Erin Patrick “Patrick” Ryan, age 70, of Aurora and formerly Lombard, passed away January 9, 2021.
Beloved son of the late Donald and Jane (Barnes) Ryan; dear brother of the late Donna Ryan, the late Michael Ryan and Diane “DJ” (Jim) Carpenter.
Patrick enjoyed attending St. Charles Singles, Meet Up Group, New Horizons Singles and Amuuse.
A memorial visitation will be held at Riverside Community Church (37W130 Crane Road, St. Charles) on January 30, 2021, from 1:30-2:30 p.m. with a service beginning at 2:30.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Riverside Community Church.

WINIFRED L. SMITH
Winifred L. Smith, age 100, of Lombard, died January 13, 2021.
Winifred was the wife of 46 years of the late Dale M. Smith; loving mother of Chandra (Roger) Allen of Lombard and Kristie (Bernard) Gross of Lombard; loving grandmother of Nicole (Chris) Liwienski of Chanhassen, Minnesota, Korrine (Jason) Flores of Lombard and Garrett (Becky) Allen of Naperville; great-grandmother of Jack and Piper Liwienski and Asher and Kenzie Flores; aunt of many loving nieces and nephews; and dear friend of many. She was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters.
Funeral Services were held Tuesday, January 19, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Private Interment followed at Mt. Emblem Cemetery, Elmhurst.

Winifred was born in Lewiston, Wisconsin, and moved to Lombard in 1954. She loved living at Lexington Square in Lombard, where she had moved in 2019.
Winifred had been an active member of First United Methodist Church in Lombard for 66 years. She was a member of the Ladies XOE there. She also was active with the rummage sales and served coffee after church.
Winifred was active in the Women of the Moose #603 Elmhurst from 1961 to the present. She has served as treasurer, assistant guide, Junior Regent, Senior Regent, college chairman, kitchen chairman and Sunshine chairman. She is a collegian and received her red stole. During that time Winnie sponsored over 100 people into the Moose Lodge. She supported the children at Moose Heart and the elderly at Moose Haven.
After retiring as a line supervisor in manufacturing, she worked at McDonalds on North Avenue for 11 years.

NANCY L. SOHL
Nancy L. (Belknap) Sohl passed away Thursday, January 14, 2021. Born June 1950 in St. Louis, Missouri. To Bob and Doris (Roller) Belknap. Nancy graduated from York High School, Elmhurst, in 1968. Received her degree in Education from Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa, in 1972 and her Master’s in Teaching degree from National Lewis University, Evanston. She taught for 34 years in School District #44 Lombard, at Green Valley and Hammerschmidt schools.
Nancy is survived by her loving husband of 47 years Ray Sohl, her sister Barb (Craig) Hopewell, brother-in-law Don (Karen) Sohl and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

Michael W. Stachnik, age 82, of Carol Stream, formerly of Lombard, died Jan. 12 at his home.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2021, from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Christ the King Church, 1501 S. Main St., Lombard, for Mass. Interment followed at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside.

Charles H. (Chuck) Young, 74, of Temple, Texas, formerly of Lombard, passed peacefully at home on Nov. 26, 2020.
