Richard L. Matus, 90

Richard L. Matus, of Elmhurst, passed away on December 16, 2020 at Amita Hospice in Elk Grove Village, at the age of 90.  He was born in Chicago on January 13, 1930 to Leo and Jessie Matuszewski. 

Rich graduated from St. Rita H.S. and worked for Trans World Airlines as ground crew mechanic until he retired in 1995.  He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, reading, playing golf and volunteering at a number of charities over the years.  Rich was often found singing a tune and performing in a community play. He is preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Jessie Matuszewski, his first wife Helen “Carol” and his wife Katherine “Bunny” Polanzi-Matus.  He is survived by his children, Mark (Gloria) Matuszewski of Elmhurst, Linda (Dave) Boggess of Elmhurst and Bill (Shelly) Matuszewski of Turlock, Calif.; stepsons, Jeff Polanzi of Arlington Heights and Bob (Gwen) Polanzi of Spring Grove; a sister, Dolores (Harry) Brehm of Orland Park; grandchildren Eric Matuszewski, Robert (Brittany) Matuszewski, Meghan (Nate) Swartz, Katie Boggess and Amy Boggess; step grandchildren, Chris (Danielle) Ferreira, Tracy (Joaquin) Liddiard, Samantha (Ryan) Tojza, Chris (Michelle) Kizorek;  great-grandchild, Brynnley Matuszewski; step great grandchildren, Capri Ferreira, Gianna, Jack and Anthony Liddiard, and many nieces and nephews.
