Mayor appoints Hill to represent 2nd Ward

According to a release issued by the City of Elmhurst, Mayor Steve Morley announced his appointment of Jacob Hill for Alderman in the City’s Second Ward at a City Council meeting on Monday, Dec. 7.

Mayor Morley said he had interviewed a total of eight candidates for the position before recommending the appointment of Hill to the vacant seat previously held by Norman Leader.  In the spring, Hill will need to be elected to the position when voters go to the polls in 2021.

A 17-year resident of Elmhurst, Hill works at Elmhurst University as an associate professor, veteran services officer, and librarian. He has a history of involvement in the civic arena and has considerable knowledge of many topics that impact a community.

Hill holds a Masters of Library and Information Science from Dominican University and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Elmhurst University.

“I am thankful for the opportunity to support my community and do my part in addressing issues facing Elmhurst,” Hill said.

“Jacob will do a fine job representing all of the residents of Elmhurst,” said Mayor Morley. “With this appointment, Elmhurst City Council is now at full quorum, which is great news for our community.”
