EDWARD W. JACOBSEN JR.
Edward W. Jacobsen, Jr., age 83, of Lombard, died November 15, 2020, at his home.
Edward was the loving husband of the late Jan, nee Urbanow; loving father of Cheryl (Kirk) Vipond of Waconia, Minnesota, Brian of Lombard, Kate (Matt) Bialecki of Elmhurst, and the late Edward III; stepfather of Jeff of Villa Park, Daniel (Bernadette) of West Chicago, Chris, Allison (Kevin) Looby of Warrenville, Tim (Stacie) of Normal, Peter (Nicole) of West Chicago, Matt (Kathy) of Arizona, Sarah (Jon) Bryan of Lombard; grandfather of Patrick, Bridget, Robert, Jim, Matt, Jake, Molly, Lukas, Ben, Sam, Bekka, Marae, Cody, Tommy, Braden, Audrey, Jack, Brett, Megan, Harper, Cameron, Josslin, Jessica, Georgia, Caden, Drew, the late Noah, the late Kaylin; great-grandfather of Cooper, Eleanor and Maisel; dear brother of the late Robert, Donald (Carol) of Elmhurst and Mary (Mark) Kulik of Barrington.
After COVID-19, a Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will be held at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lombard.

Ed had been a resident of Lombard since 1969. He retired from Chicago Mold & Engineering after 50 years with the company. Ed was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, where he was active on several boards and served as an Elder there.
Ed loved model and full-size trains. He was a collector of stamps, shot glasses and beer cans. He also loved the Cubs and Bears. Ed enjoyed working with his tools and making things for others. He adored his dogs and enjoyed sitting on his back porch with others. He loved his 1960 Thunderbird and Cruise Nights in Lombard.

ROBERT L. KRATKY
Robert L. Kratky, age 74, of Lombard, passed away November 19, 2020.
Robert was the son of the late Libbie, nee Miller, and the late Frank, both of Lombard. Many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 25, from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Sacred Heart Church, 114 S. Elizabeth St., Lombard. Interment Private.
Robert was a 1965 graduate of Glenbard East High School. He had been a resident of Lombard for over 60 years, and lived in Winfield for the past 14 years. He loved living at Winfield Woods Health Care Center. Robert was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Church.

JAMES HENRY THOMA
James Henry Thoma, of Port St. Lucie, Florida, and formerly of Villa Park, passed away on Nov. 9, 2020, at the age of 93. Loving father of Jim of Port St. Lucie, Florida, and daughter, Kathy (James Stittsworth) of St. Johns, Florida. Cherished Papa of Shannon and Shaun Stittsworth; step grandfather of Jessica (John Michael) Dowell, Toni Stittsworth and Melissa Michurski; dear brother-in-law of Joan Staven and Harryett King; cherished uncle to many. Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ramona; parents, Joseph and Margaret; brothers Robert, Richard, Thomas and Donald; sister, Elizabeth; parents-in-law Harriet and David King; brothers-in-law James King, Richard King and Duane Staven; and sisters-in-law Eleanor Thoma, Ida Mary Thoma, Maryrose Thoma and Barbara Thoma. Member of Holy Family Catholic Church, PSL.
Jim was born in Milwaukee to Joseph and Margaret and grew up in Oak Park. He attended St. Edmund Grade School and graduated from Oak Park and River Forest High School in 1945. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1950 with a degree in business administration. Jim was employed as a sales representative for Ohio Medical Products for 36 years and was inducted into the Products Sales Achievement Hall of Fame in 1980. He met his wife Ramona King at the UW. They were married in 1953 and had two children, Kathy and Jim. They lived in Elmhurst for two years and in Villa Park for 54 years. Jim was very active in Villa Park Youth Baseball and was a member of the Villa Park Lions Club, where he was Lion of the Year in 1992 and president in 2002-03.
The family enjoyed summer vacations with family friends at Hahn’s Roost Resort in Hayward, Wisconsin, where he finally caught his prized “keeper” musky in 1971. Jim excelled at baseball in his youth and in bowling and golf as an adult. He loved Dixieland jazz music and played the trombone in the Mad Monks of Melody for more than 20 years. One of the highlights of his musical career was playing with the Chicago Cubs Dixieland Band at Wrigley Field several times.
Jim’s wife, Mona, passed away in 2011 after 58 years of marriage. He moved to Florida and lived with his son, Jim. He was much loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed.
A Funeral Mass was held at Holy Family Catholic Church, Port St. Lucie, Florida, on Nov. 21, 2020. Mass was live-streamed on Facebook; attendees can search for Aycock Funeral Home Floresta and LIKE the page. It will be available for viewing afterwards.
He will be interred at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois, at a later date. MARGARET VANSANT
Margaret “Peggy” (nee Chiabotta) Vansant, age 84, recently of Burr Ridge, Illinois, previously of Grand Island, Nebraska, Gaithersburg, Maryland, and Kansas City, Missouri, was the beloved mother of Lori (Burke) Solyom and John (Diana) Vansant; loving grandmother of Nicholas Ryan Vansant, Ashley Elizabeth, Rachel Margaret, and Hannah Michelle Solyom; and affectionate aunt to many nieces and nephews. Peggy is survived by her brother William I. (Kay) Chiabotta; and companion of 30+ years, Gary Overmiller; and preceded in death by her brother Ronald L. Chiabotta, and her parents John A. and Dorothy E. (nee Ayres) Chiabotta.
Peggy loved kitties and cared for many of them throughout her life. She enjoyed folk music and hymns, playing them both on the hammered dulcimer as part of the Grand Island, Nebraska, group, “Grandmas on the Go.” She was a lifelong member of Zeta Tau Alpha, having been active in the sorority at Baker University (Kansas) and Southern Methodist University (Texas).
Through the late 80s and into the early 2000s, Peggy served as a food service manager in nursing homes and hospitals, something that a lifelong love of cooking and gardening well-prepared her for. In her last two years, she was lovingly cared for by the health care staff at the King Bruwaert House.
Visitation was Saturday, November 21, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1165 S. Westmore-Meyers Rd, Lombard, IL 60148. Interment was at Forest Hill Cemetery, Glen Ellyn.
