ELEANOR ALBERTS
Eleanor Hannah Crowell Alberts, age 100, of Lombard, passed away, September 24, 2020.
Eleanor was the beloved wife of the late Herbert; loving mother of the late Sharon C.; fond aunt of Bert (Maria) Hamilton of Pingree Grove; great-aunt of Allen S. Hamilton of Idaho, Bryce Williamson of Pingree Grove and Sharice Hamilton of Florida; and sister of the late Florence V. Hamilton.
Eleanor attended Northwestern University where she received her B.A. in 1941. She was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority. She also was a member of the League of Women Voters at Northwestern University.
Eleanor worked with the DeKalb Extension Division at Northern Illinois University for Special Education in 1959.
Eleanor was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Lombard Chapter #918, where she served as Worthy Matron in 1964. She was a member of the Log Cabin Association and was a minuteman for the log cabin. Eleanor served on the Bicentennial Commission. She was a member of the Maple Street Chapel Preservation Committee at the First Church of Lombard.

Clare L. Deardorff, nee Greenwood, age 83, of Lombard died March 17 at home.

BARBARA LOUISE HARDTKE
Barbara Louise Hardtke (nee Renn), age 81, of Lombard, was called suddenly to her heavenly home on Tuesday, September 22, 2020.
Beloved wife of the late Elwaine Hardtke Sr.; loving mother of seven children, Elwaine (Cathi) Jr., Mark (Cheryl), Barbara (Russell) Hansen, Christina (Al) Schefske, Marcia (Troy) Huber, Wade (Tonia), and Tricia (Mark) Walton; dear mother-in-law of Debbie Hardtke; proud grandmother of 27 grandchildren, Jason and Doug (Audrey) Hardtke, Briana (Sean) Fischer, Mark Jr., Kristin, Michael and Trevor Hardtke, Michael, Allison and Katie Hansen, Kaitlyn (Patrick) Witte, Jessica (Eric) Gile, and Ryan Schefske, Troy Jr., Tyler, Danielle, Lauren and Mackenzie Huber, Cole, Cade, and Callie Hardtke, Alexandra, Genevieve, Gabrielle, Sammy, Brookelyn and Cooper Walton; supportive grandmother-in-law to Jenelle Hardtke; caring great-grandmother to Douglas (DJ) Hardtke Jr. and Luke Fischer; friend, and “Grandma Hardtke” to all who knew her.
Barbara is preceded in death by her husband Elwaine Hardtke Sr. and her parents, Alvin and Louise (nee Busching) Renn.
Barbara was born on January 7, 1939 in Berwyn, baptized January 15, 1939 and confirmed April 6, 1952 in Brookfield. She graduated from St. Paul’s Lutheran School in Brookfield in 1952 and from Riverside Brookfield High School in 1956. Barbara and Elwaine started their lifelong journey together when they married on May 3, 1958. She spent her life lovingly caring for her husband (especially as he dealt with Parkinson’s), her family, in-laws, parents, and anyone else that needed a hand. An avid supporter of her children’s and grandchildren’s activities and sporting events, she kept a busy schedule of attending games, concerts, recitals, and ceremonies. Her kindness blessed countless others with the gift of a personalized note, a listening ear, a batch of caramel bars, or a warm hug. The story of her family is made up of faith, love, time, and memories … all the things that really matter!
Visitation will be held Friday, October 2, from 3 to 9 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 South Main Street, Lombard.
Funeral Service will be held Saturday, October 3, at 10 AM at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 215 S. Lincoln Ave., Lombard. There will be no lying-in state at the church due to Covid restrictions. Interment will follow Concordia Cemetery, Forest Park, Illinois.

USMC CPL. JACOB R. JONES
Corporal Jacob R. Jones, age 21, USMC, of North Carolina, formerly of Bloomingdale, died September 12, 2020.
Jacob was the husband of Lauryn, nee Fogt; dearest son of Edward W. Jones, Jr., of Bloomingdale and Jeannette A. Jones of Glendale Heights; loving brother of Mitchell Jones of Bloomingdale, Bradley Jones of Bloomingdale, Olivia Jones of Glendale Heights and the late Joshua F. Jones; fond grandson of Frances Jones (the late Edward Sr.) of Crystal Lake, Jeannette (Sorin) Cauc of Bartlett and the late Ralph E. Mazur; and many aunts and uncles, cousins and other relatives.
Jacob was formerly a resident of Wheaton, Lombard and Bloomingdale. He graduated from Glenbard East in 2017. He joined the United States Marine Corps in 2017 and was stationed in North Carolina. He was previously deployed to Japan.
Jacob loved animals and was a video gamer.

RUTH MANNING
Ruth Manning nee Olson, age 98, of Carol Stream, formerly of Lombard, went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on Tuesday, September 22, 2020.
A Family Graveside Service was held at Forest Home Cemetery on September 24, 2020.
Ruth was the beloved wife of the late Arne Manning; loving mother of Paul (Karen) Manning, Timothy (Karin) Manning and the late Phyllis Coleman; dear grandmother of Jeffrey (Theresa) Smith, Jason (Katrina) Manning, Joel (Stephanie) Manning, Rachel (Adam) Braun, Anna (Zachary) Ashton, Emma Manning, Oscar (Annalyssa) Manning, Arlyn Manning, Annika Manning, Eleanor Manning, fond great-grandmother of 22.
Ruth was born in Chicago and graduated from Chicago Teachers College. She was formerly a resident of Lombard and lived on West Road.
Ruth was a Chicago Public School kindergarten teacher for 35 years at Leslie Lewis School. She was a longtime member of Austin Covenant Church and then Villa Park Covenant Church, where she was a soloist and sang in the choir.
Her family has enjoyed and benefited from her constant love and prayers through the years.

Alice J. Martin nee Kusles, formerly of Elmhurst, passed away recently at the age of 89. Beloved wife of the late David. Loving mother of Christine (Ken) Calendo and Daniel (Kathy) Martin. Cherished grandmother of David (Nicole) Calendo and Amy (Phil) Weisberg, Ryan, Colleen and Kimberly Martin. Great grandmother of Luke, Ava and Grayson Calendo. Barbara A. Snell, nee Fritz, age 85, of Lombard, passed away Friday, September 25, 2020.
Loving mother of Joseph A. Fritz, Jeannine A. Cichorski nee Fritz and John (Teresa) Fritz; beloved grandmother of Jeffery, Heather (Sean) Isabel nee Fritz, Lucas and Jacob; cherished sister of Carol (Robert) Sittler; fond aunt of many nieces and nephews. Barbara is preceded in death by her husbands, Anthony Fritz and Alva Snell; grandchildren, Justin Fritz and Noah Cichorski; parents, Adolph and Abbie Petersen.
Barbara loved traveling the world and visiting new places. She will be truly missed by her family and friends.

GEORGE TAMMINGA
George Tamminga, age 91, of Lombard. Beloved husband of the late Henrietta Tamminga; loving father of Cindy Tamminga, Kristy (Dan) Bootsma, and Scott (Denise) Tamminga; devoted grandfather of Joshua (Charis), Joseph (Alyssa) and Matthew Bootsma, Nathaniel, Kathryn, and Micah Tamminga; fond brother of the late William (the late Hazel) Tamminga, the late Jessie (the late Gerrit) De Boer, the late Albert (Dorothy) Tamminga, the late James (the late Lyda) Tamminga, the late Wilma (the late Gerry) Van Leeuwen, the late Luke (Eleanor) Tamminga, Millie (the late William) Dekker, and Joe Tamminga; uncle of many nieces and nephews.
George was devoted to Christian education, in which he served for 35 years. The majority of his time was spent as principal at Timothy Christian Elementary School from 1970-1994.
George served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He remained in the Naval Reserves, serving his country a total of 35 years.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 30, at 11 a.m. at Lombard Christian Reformed Church, 2020 S Meyers Road, Lombard, IL 60148. Interment at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery. In accordance with state regulations, all visitors are required to wear a face mask while inside the building and maintain social distance.
