Grade-school students from three Lombard private schools took part in a new cross-country event on Oct. 3. Runners from St. Pius X School, Sacred Heart School and St. John’s Lutheran School participated in the inaugural Lilac Village Invitational at Lombard Common. The event featured boys and girls races in each grade level from 5 to 8. The photo shows the top two finishers from the 2-mile eighth-grade girls race. Molly B. (foreground) of St. Pius X won the race in a first-place time of 14 minutes, 56 seconds. Annalee D. (background) of St. Pius X finished in a second-place time of 14:59.
