Police Reports

The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Persons charged with domestic battery are not named in order to protect the privacy of victims. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.

Assault, battery

Sept. 12

A reporting officer met with a victim in the 100 block of Virginia at around 2:13 a.m. The victim stated a suspect grabbed him by the neck in a threatening manner. The suspect denied grabbing the victim and agreed to stay away from him.

Criminal damage, criminal trespass

Sept. 9-Sept. 10

A complainant in the 400 block of S. Poplar told police that an unknown suspect(s) damaged a sign at Washington Park sometime between the above dates. Park District employees removed the damaged sign for repair prior to reporting the incident.

Domestic battery, domestic incident, disorderly conduct, damage to property, disturbance

Sept. 12

Police said officers responded to an entertainment facility in the 300 block of W. Lake at around 10:50 p.m. for the report of a disturbance. The reporting officer spoke with the complainant who stated the suspect was seen arguing with

another female and pulled out what the complainant believed to be a stun gun. A search of the suspect’s property yielded no weapons. She was released from the scene.

Sept. 11

A victim in the 900 block of S. Hawthorne told police at around 6:47 p.m. that an unknown suspect(s) broke the driver’s side front window of his vehicle. The victim reported no entry was gained and nothing appeared to be

missing.

DUI, DUI-drugs, possession of alcohol in public

Sept. 16

Matthew Williamson, 46, of Elmhurst, was charged with DUI, assault and resisting arrest in the 700 block of N. York at around 4:41 p.m. According to police, a victim related while getting ready to unload cars from his carrier truck, an agitated and hostile motorist (Williamson) approached the victim, yelled at him and threatened him. Willlamson was reportedly highly intoxicated, police said.

Sept. 14

Amanda Gotter, 34, of Rosemont, was charged with DUI and illegal transportation of alcohol near St. Charles and Lawndale at around 4:01 a.m.

Sept. 13

Luis Calderon-Alcara, 23, of Sycamore, was charged with DUI, transportation of open alcohol, improper lane usage and no front license plate subsequent to a traffic stop near Lake and York at around 8:39 p.m.

Josue R. Salazar Garcia, 26, of Evanston, was charged with DUI, illegal transportation of open alcohol, possession of adult use cannabis in a vehicle, driving while license suspended, improper lane usage and no insurance near York and Roosevelt at around 5:32 a.m.

Sept. 10

David E. Matthews, 43, of Bartlett, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, DUI-drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia near North and Willow at around 1:47 p.m.

Obstruction

Aug. 18

A reporting officer responded to the lobby of the police department for a citizen assist, which was reclassified as an obstruction of identification report. The victim told police he received two notices for unpaid City of Elmhurst tickets and was never involved in a traffic stop. It was determined that a suspect used the victim’s personal information while being issued traffic citations. An investigation is pending.

Possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance

Sept. 15

Ronald Booker, 54, of Robbins, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, DUI-drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to reduce speed to avoid an and no insurance subsequent to a traffic crash in the 100 block of N. York at around 6:39 p.m.  Police said Booker was found unconscious behind the wheel. A baggie containing heroin and a cut straw were observed in plain view inside of the vehicle, according to police.

Sept. 11

Alexander Baker, 18, of Elmhurst, was issued citations for possession of cannabis and possession of alcohol by a minor in the 100 block of N. Addison at around 7:53 p.m.

Calvin Krieg, 28, of Villa Park, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, DUI-drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, improper lane usage and no insurance,  while Emily Peterson, 20, of Villa Pari, a passenger in the vehicle, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and possession of a hypodermic needle subsequent to a vehicle crash near North and Melrose at around 9:44 a.m.  Police said Krieg was found to be in possession of heroin, while Peterson was found to have two active warrants out of the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office.

Suspicious circumstances

Sept.  15

A victim in the 300 block of N. York told police at around 1 p.m. as she entered a parking lot after an appointment, she observed a suspect sitting in a vehicle. She believes this suspect has been following her using different vehicles. She has made similar reports with other police agencies. An investigation is pending.

Sept. 11

A complainant in the 300 block of N. York told police at around 10:04 p.m. that he located a suspect sleeping inside the complainant’s unlocked work van. The suspect stated he did not steal anything and was looking for a place to sleep. The complainant verified no items were missing from the van and did not wish to sign complaints.

Theft/burglary/attempted theft or burglary/identity theft/fraud/forgery/deceptive practice/obstruction/robbery

Sept. 15

Burglary to a vehicle was reported in the 400 block of Emory at around 6:03 a.m. A victim told police that he observed an unknown suspect in the front seat of his unlocked vehicle. Upon seeing the victim, the suspect fled the scene on foot. A search of the area was met with no results. A book and cash were taken from the back seat of the vehicle.

Sept. 14

Identity theft was reported in the 700 block of Howard at around 1:50 p.m. A victim told police that an unknown suspect used his personal information to apply for unemployment benefits. The reporting officer provided the victim with information on how to protect himself against identity theft.

Feb. 20-Sept.14

Five incidents of theft of services at a rental car facility were reported between the above dates. Suspects failed to return rental vehicles.

Sept. 10-Sept. 14

Identity theft was reported in the 100 block of W. Virginia. A victim told police that an unknown suspect(s) made three fraudulent transactions using the victim’s checking account information sometime between the above dates.

Sept. 13

Retail theft was reported at a local store at around 6:47 p.m. A complainant told police that he observed an unknown female suspect walk away with two planters that were located in front of the business. Officers checked the area for the unknown suspect but were met with no results. This case is pending investigation.

Sept. 12-Sept. 13

Theft was reported in the 900 block of Kirk. Police said a reporting officer was dispatched to the above address for a delayed theft report. A complainant told police that a diamond wedding band was missing from a jewelry box in her bedroom. The victim stated she hosted an open house and a suspicious female suspect was seen in the second floor for an extended period of time before leaving.

Sept. 12

Laroy Redmond, 46, of Chicago, was charged with burglary/retail theft at a local store in the 900 block of S. York at around 12:46 p.m. Police said that subsequent to an extra patrol, a reporting officer was alerted by an employee of Redmond, who had taken liquor without paying. According to police, Redmond took a bottle of

alcohol and fled from the store.

May 23-Sept. 12

Theft was reported in the 900 block of S. Kirk. A victim told police he received a notice from the Illinois Tollway regarding unpaid tolls. The victim stated after donating his vehicle, he disposed of the license plate in a recycling bin. The victim does not know who may have taken the license plate or when it was removed.

Sept. 11

Christopher Damnitz, 50, of Elmhurst, was charged with retail theft at a pharmacy in the 100 block of W. North at around 5:10 p.m. According to police, a complainant stated that Damnitz took a phone charger and left without paying. Police said a reporting officer located Damnitz, who admitted to placing the item in his backpack and leaving the store without paying.

Two incidents of theft of vehicle parts were reported at a car dealership in the 700 block of W. Lake at around 12 a.m. and 2:17 a.m., respectively. In the first incident, police said subsequent to an extra patrol, a reporting officer located a vehicle with a shattered front passenger side window and missing four tires. In the second incident, subsequent to investigation of the first incident, the reporting officer located a vehicle missing four tires. Both cases are pending investigation.

Identity theft was reported in the 200 block of E. Third at around 9:04 p.m. A victim told police that she received notification from her credit monitoring service which showed a credit pull for a business loan she did not apply for. The victim contacted

the Small Business Administration which confirmed a loan application was submitted but denied. The victim requested a freeze be placed on her credit.
