The Rotary Club of Lombard and Lombard Service League recently presented their respective 2020 Man and Woman of the Year awards at the Lombard Park District Pavilion, 227 W. Parkside Ave. Robert Friend (left) is the Rotary Club’s 2020 Man of the Year. Brigitte O’Brien (right) is Lombard Service League’s 2020 Woman of the Year. While the Rotary Club lets its Man of the Year honoree know about the award in advance, Lombard Service League does not inform its Woman of the Year recipient of the honor until the announcement is made to the public. “I’m not prepared for this,” said O’Brien after she was named the 2020 Woman of the Year at the Sept. 9 event. “Thank you for the honor. Thank you for the surprise.”
