Top Crime News; Police cite numerous reports of burglary, theft to vehicles

• On July 29, two incidents of burglary to a vehicle were reported in the 400 block of Avery—the first at around 8:46 a.m., and the second at around 9:57 a.m. and the third at around 10:19 a.m.  In the first incident, a victim told police that an unknown suspect(s) entered his unlocked auto and removed car keys and a key fob that were left on the floorboard. Nothing else appeared to be disturbed or missing. In the second incident, an unknown suspect(s) entered his unlocked Chevrolet Impala, rifled through the glove compartment, and stole a white/black audiometer. In the third incident, an unknown suspect(s) entered her unlocked Buick LeSabre and rifled through the glove box. Nothing appears missing from the vehicle.

• Vehicle theft was reported in the 400 block of Avery between July 28-29. A victim told police that an unknown suspect(s) stole her unlocked Toyota Camry while it was parked in the driveway. The victim related the key fob was left inside of the vehicle. The vehicle was entered into LEADS as stolen.

• Burglary to a vehicle was reported in the 1000 block of Sunset between July 28-29. A victim told police that an unknown suspect(s) entered his unlocked vehicle while it was parked in the driveway. A pair of sunglasses was the only item that appeared to be missing.

• On July 26 and July 27, two incidents of burglary to a vehicle was reported—one in the 300 block of S. Mitchell and the other in the 100 block of Garfield.  In both incidents, victims told police that an unknown suspect(s) entered their unlocked vehicles and removed cash from the center console.

• Burglary to a vehicle was also reported in the 200 block of S. Grace on July 26 – 27. A victim told police that an unknown suspect(s) entered two unlocked vehicles parked in the driveway overnight. Numerous items and cash were taken.

• On July 26, burglary to a vehicle was reported in the 400 block of S. Fair at around 1:13 p.m. A victim told police that an unknown suspect(s) entered two unlocked vehicles that were parked in the driveway overnight. The suspect(s) removed two garage door openers and a car charger.

•.On July 23, burglary to a vehicle was reported in the 100 block of S. Chandler at around 1:32 a.m. Police said that while an officer was investigating another burglary to a vehicle, the officer located a vehicle with its interior light on. Upon further inspection, it was discovered the vehicle’s center console and glove box were entered. The victim stated a garage door opener was taken from inside the vehicle.

• Burglary to a vehicle was reported in the 200 block of S. Arlington on July 22 at around 5:18 p.m. While investigating a burglary to a vehicle, a reporting officer was made aware of a separate burglary at the above location. The victim stated he noticed the center console was open and the contents from the glove box were scattered on the front passenger seat. The victim was unsure if any items were taken.

• Burglary to a vehicle was reported in the 100 block of S. Arlington on July 21-22. A complainant told police that both vehicles were parked in the driveway and locked the night before. The complainant stated he found one of the vehicle’s rear driver’s door ajar and several items were taken. This case is pending investigation.
