The Villa Park Parks and Recreation Department welcomed a senior volunteer to visit its summer day camps one day per week. The volunteer read stories to campers each Wednesday. Recently, during the final Wednesday that the camps were in session, former Villa Park Village President Rae Rupp Srch visited the Iowa Community Center to read some stories, including “Peanut Butter and Cupcake!” by Terry Border, “Wanted: Best Friend” by A.M. Monson, “Good Job, Little Bear” by Martin Waddell and “There Was and Old Lady Who Swallowed a Trout!” by Teri Sloat. When Rupp Srch completed the final story of the day, the campers presented her with a large thank-you card for reading to them on several occasions this summer.
