CROP Walk going virtual this year

The community is invited to participate in a Virtual CROP Hunger Walk on Sunday, Oct. 4, or at your convenience. (The above photo was taken during last year’s walk.) “Virtual” walks are tricky. They are “different.” This is something new for the fundraisers. The virtual CROP Walk is more flexible, encourages “personal” routes and time, allows for online registration, and is safer for all. Social distancing is vital and a virtual walk meets this basic criterion. The walk continues to be a local mission to support hunger relief in our communities and around the world. Five local food pantries will be the recipients of 25 of the walk’s donations. The key is participation. Online registration and donations are encouraged.

Visit www.crophungerwalk.org/lombardil. Donations can be made online or in person. Checks to be made out to: CROP Hunger Walk. “Teams” will be organized by many congregations and community groups. Individuals and groups can walk in their neighborhood, parks, church parking lots or on a treadmill, a bike, pulling a wagon of kids around the block, around their houses. Your help is needed more than ever at this time of food insecurity and economic uncertainty. For more information, call 331-213-1556.
