RUDOLF V. KRAUS
Rudolf V. Kraus, born Aug. 31, 1936, passed away on June 28, 2020, at the age of 83. A native New Yorker, Rudolf was a United States Air Force veteran. After graduating from Monmouth University in New Jersey, he worked as a technician at Bell Laboratories. He later transitioned to electronics instruction at AIT and ITT. He was an avid collector, amassing thousands of books, records, videotapes and DVDs. He loved to cook and paint. He was a strong supporter of Scouts BSA and served as an adult leader to many troops over the years including troops 118, 222, 138, 53 and 140. He refused to allow being tone deaf as an excuse to not enjoy a good campfire song.
Rudolf loved his family over everything. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Terry, his son Rudolf (Hilary), his daughter Tricia (Chris) Goodman and his grandchildren, Thomas and Tessa. He will be greatly missed. Fond memories will be celebrated and his love will continue. “What a gift we were all given to have had him in our lives,” his family said. “He worked hard, did good for others and loved with all his heart.”
“It’s nice to be important, but it’s important to be nice.” (paraphrased from Walter Winchell).
Service will be private due to COVID-19. Burial at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery will be private.
