Windows broken at Nucara
Early in the day on Tuesday, June 2, Nucara Pharmacy discovered its front entrance window had been shattered, as seen here. Police do not believe it had anything to do with the protest rally that took place later that afternoon in downtown. The rally was held in support of George Floyd, an African-American man who died while in custody of the Minneapolis police department. The event sparked outrage across the nation.

Protester mentions ‘returning to loot a business’

On June 2, police said that subsequent to a peaceful rally held near York St. and North Ave., a complainant stated at around 5 p.m. that a suspect made statements about returning to loot a business in the 100 block of W. North when officers left the area. An investigation is pending.

Also on June 2, commercial burglary was reported at NuCara Pharmacy in the 100 block of W. Vallette at around 12:39 a.m. Police said that subsequent to a burglary alarm, officers discovered the front glass door to the above location had been shattered. A key holder responded to the scene and advised he would conduct an inventory to see what was taken; however, no cash or scheduled narcotics appeared to be missing.

Pistol found in backpack of man buying motorcycle

On May 28, Darnell W. Buckner, 40, of Chicago, was charged with forgery, while Kevin R. Daniels, 38, of Chicago, was charged with unlawful use of a weapon by a felon at a store in the 300 block of W. Grand at around 12:58 p.m. According to police, a complainant related that Buckner presented a fraudulent driver’s license and fraudulent Social Security card in an attempt to purchase a motorcycle. Daniels carried a backpack into the dealership, which contained cash, a pistol, and jewelry, police said.
