About 175 District 44 staff members volunteered to visit the homes of students who just completed their eighth-grade year at Glenn Westlake Middle School. The staff members were divided into teams that visited the students’ homes on Friday. The special deliveries to each of the approximately 350 students included their graduation certificate, several celebratory items and a personalized video book. The students were unable to participate in the school’s traditional promotional ceremony because of the COVID-19 pandemic. One of the students to receive a visit on Friday was Augustus Winkler, who’s pictured with his parents—Vanessa and Jerral—outside of their Lombard home. Augustus will soon begin his freshman year at Glenbard East High School.
