Police investigate shooting of 54-year-old man on So. Linden

Elmhurst Police are investigating a shooting that occurred on Thursday, May 14, at approximately 8:55 p.m. in the 800 block of South Linden Avenue. Police responded to a report of shots fired in the area of Van Buren & Linden. Upon arriving at the scene, police found a 54-year-old Elmhurst man, who was the victim of a gunshot wound in the 800 block of S. Linden Avenue.

Witnesses report that a vehicle described as a light color, newer model SUV, traveling westbound on Van Buren in the 300 block slowed and someone from inside the vehicle fired several shots at the victim who was walking on the sidewalk. The suspect vehicle fled the scene westbound Van Buren toward Colfax. Police have recovered a rifle believed to be involved in the shooting in the 700 block of Colfax.

The victim was transported to Elmhurst Hospital by Elmhurst Fire Department paramedics for treatment, where he is reportedly recovering from gunshot wounds.
