THOMAS WARREN EKENBERG
Thomas Warren Ekenberg of McKinney, Texas, passed away on March 2, 2020, at the age of 70. He was born on April 14, 1949, to Herbert Clarence Ekenberg and June Anna Rentzsch in Chicago, Illinois.
Tom graduated from Glenbard East High School in 1967 in Lombard, Illinois. He then attended College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, Illinois where he played football and baseball. Tom also attended the University of New Mexico. He was an avid power lifter most of his life. He is the holder of numerous state, national and world records. Tom was inducted into the power lifting hall of fame on November 16, 2012. He was a builder and a developer in the construction industry for his entire career. Tom was a member of St. Gabriel the Archangel Church.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Patricia Ekenberg of McKinney, Texas; devoted son, Christopher Ekenberg and wife, Kristen, of McKinney, Texas; caring daughter, Jamie Brickler and husband, Eric, of Dallas, Texas; beloved grandchildren, Thomas Brady Ekenberg, Brook Ekenberg, Benjamin Brickler, Matthew Brickler; sister, Jill Kohn and husband, Charles, of Thornton, Colorado; sister-in-law, Susan Ekenberg of Keedysville, Maryland; a host of nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends.
Thomas is preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and June Ekenberg; and his brother, Rodger Ekenberg.
The memorial service was held on Friday, March 6, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Gabriel the Archangel Church, 110 St. Gabriel Way, McKinney, TX 75071.
Tom’s Dad, Herb Ekenberg, passed away from ALS at the age of 81. Tom passed away from ALS at the age of 70. It is Tom’s wish that any memorial contributions be made to the ALS Foundation.

GARY GRIEGER
Gary Grieger, age 63, of Lombard, passed away April 4, 2020.
Services will be private.
Gary is survived by his beloved wife, Karen nee Carter; his loving children, John (Shannon) Grieger of Chicago and Laura (Fiancé Matt Burch) Grieger of Chicago; dear brother of Cherie (Read) Boeckel of Glen Ellyn and Gayle (Ken Peters) Kennedy of St. Charles; many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Gary grew up in Elmhurst and graduated from York High School in 1974. He went on to graduate from Western Illinois in Macomb. Gary retired as a Warehouse Manager from Jewel-Osco.
He was very active with the Wellness House in Hinsdale. Gary was a volunteer in the cancer community. He coached youth softball, basketball and baseball in Lombard. Gary was also a Special Olympics coach for many years. He loved sports, especially baseball and golf, and was an avid Cubs fan. Gary enjoyed writing about inspirational topics and sports.

Dennis M. McOmber, age 85, of Lombard, died April 2 at Oak Brook Care Center.

CHARLES W. PLAUTZ
Charles W. Plautz, age 100, Vet WWII, of Algonquin, formerly of Lombard, Carol Stream and Huntley, passed away March 31, 2020.
A private Funeral Service was held Tuesday, April 7, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St, Lombard. Interment followed at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
Mr. Plautz was born in Antigo, Wisconsin, on October 25, 1919, to the late Henry and Agatha (nee Pohlman). He is survived by his beloved children, Robert (Deborah) of Colorado, Judith (Kenneth) O’Brien of Huntley, and Susan (William) Jennrich of Frankfort; cherished grandfather of Jamison of Rhode Island, Brian (Julie) of CO, Kenneth (Andrea) O’Brien of Marengo, Katie (Scott) Benson of WI, Gregory Jennrich of Maryland, Alec Jennrich of Villa Park, Brett Jennrich of Frankfort; his loving great-grandchildren, Aiden, Brady, Kaliey, Aubrey, Brady, Katelyn, Jack and Madeleine; and his sister, Lorraine Fleishman; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Mr. Plautz is preceded in death by his wife, Dolores, nee Martin; his granddaughter, Meghan O’Brien; and his siblings, Lucille Bessey, and Chester Plautz, his twin.
Mr. Plautz was a WWII Vet serving in the Pacific Theater, China-Burma-India Theater and Alaska. He participated in the Aleutian Campaign. Mr. Plautz was married for 68 years and was a resident of Lombard for 28 years. He was an Engineer on the CNW Railroad. Mr. Plautz was a lifelong member of VFW Villa Park #2801, a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Lombard, and St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, Lombard. He was an avid bowler, fisherman and gardener.
