Juvenile charged with punching mother’s face goes to detention

On Jan. 11, officers responded a report of a domestic battery at around 1:05 p.m. Upon arrival, police met with the suspect and the victim, who was the suspect’s mother. The victim states the suspect became upset with her and reportedly punched her in the left cheek. The suspect denies punching her. The suspect was taken into custody and transported to Kane County’s Juvenile Detention.

Wife catches husband exiting hotel with other woman

On Jan. 9, police responded to a hotel in the 900 block of S. Riverside at around 7:23 p.m. after a victim stated he was caught by his wife as he exited the hotel along with a woman with whom he was having an affair. The suspect pushed him and slapped him. The victim decided he did not wish officers to investigate and signed a decline to investigate form. The victim had no visible injuries.

Police report series of vehicle burglaries, many unlocked

Burglary to a vehicle was reported in the 400 block of S. Arlington between Jan. 9 and Jan. 11. A victim told police an unknown suspect(s) had apparently gone through his BMW X4 and removed his garage door opener, but nothing else.

Burglary suspect visible on camera 

Attempted burglary to a vehicle was reported in the 200 block of E. Crescent at around 5:19 a.m. on Jan. 10. Police said that during an investigation of a delayed suspicious incident, the ring camera footage showed a suspect described as a black male, bald with a full beard, wearing a dark blue hooded sweatshirt, gray sweatpants and white gym shoes, who was pulling on door handles of his locked Chevy Traverse attempting to gain entry. The suspect then went to a neighboring address and pulled on the door handles of a locked Toyota Sequoia, attempting to gain entry. At this address, a Kia Sorrento was found with the driver’s side door partially ajar. Several items in the vehicle were disturbed; however nothing appeared to be missing.

Garage door opener missing

Burglary to a vehicle was reported in the 500 block of S. Kenilworth at around 7:55 a.m. Police said an unknown suspect(s) entered victim’s unlocked vehicle and removed the automatic garage door opener that was attached to the driver’s visor. The victim did not find anything else missing from his vehicle or his garage.

Front console rummaged but nothing missing

Entering an unlocked vehicle was reported in the 400 block of S. Fairview at around 11:18 a.m. A victim told police that he parked his unlocked Land Rover in his driveway. Later, the victim’s wife found items that were stored in the center console and glove box thrown on the seats in the vehicle. The victim did not find anything missing from the vehicle.

Purse taken from unlocked vehicle

Burglary to a vehicle was reported in the 200 block of S. Poplar at around 4 p.m. Police said officers responded to the above location for a delayed burglary to a vehicle report. Upon arrival, a victim told police that an unknown suspect(s) entered her unlocked Acura MDX and stole her purse. The victim had cancelled her debit card but noticed a fraudulent charge to a gas station in Westmont. An investigation is pending.

Burglars seize jackets; one returned to victim

Burglary to a vehicle was reported in the 700 block of S. Prospect. A victim told police that an unknown suspect(s) entered the victim’s vehicle sometime between Jan. 9 and Jan. 10 and removed a black jacket and black suede jacket. A second vehicle had also been entered, but nothing was reported missing. The victim’s suede coat was found by a resident and turned in at the station lobby. It was processed and returned to the owner.

Six vehicle burglaries reported Jan. 9-10

Six instances of burglary to or entering an unlocked vehicle were reported between the above dates. 

In the first instance in the 700 block of N. Parker, a victim explained that after reading about Elmhurst residents being victims of burglaries, he went out to check on his unlocked cars parked in his driveway. Both appeared to have been entered by an unknown suspect(s) but nothing was taken. 

In a second instance in the 300 block of S. Poplar, a victim told police that an unknown suspect(s) entered his unlocked BMW overnight. The victim said a single check, sunglasses, and $5 in change were missing from his vehicle. 

In the third instance in the 300 block of Huntington, a victim told police that their Range Rover and Lexus had been burglarized while left parked unlocked overnight. Items in the vehicles were moved but nothing was missing. 

Another garage door opener taken

In the fourth instance on Manchester Lane, a victim told police he parked his unlocked Lincoln MKZ in his driveway. The victim observed papers thrown about the driver’s seat of the vehicle. He then noticed his garage door opener was missing from the driver side visor. 

In the fifth instance in the 900 block of N. Lombard, a victim told police that an unknown suspect(s) entered the victim’s unlocked Cadillac Escalade while it was parked in the driveway overnight. No items are missing at this time. 

In the sixth instance in the 700 block of N. Parker, a victim told police she parked her unlocked white Acura MDX in her driveway overnight. An unknown suspect(s) entered her vehicle and took two long-sleeved shirts.
