Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Lombard Lilac Post 5815 held its annual Veterans Day ceremony on the morning of Nov. 11 at Lombard Village Hall. The event was originally scheduled to take place in the Sunken Garden at Lombard Common, but was relocated because of inclement weather. Monday’s service included a ceremonial bell ringing to recognize post members who have recently passed away. Pictured left to right during the bell ringing are Ron Wisniewski—the post’s junior vice commander, Tony Maroney—the post’s judge advocate, post commander Dennis Jensen and Lombard Village President Keith Giagnorio. “We’re proud of our past, present and future military members, and all the sacrifices that have been made by them and their families in order for us to live in this great country,” said Jensen during his speech at the service.
