The annual Great Prairie Trail CROP Hunger Walk will be held Sunday, Oct. 6, and now is the time to register to participate in the fundraiser sponsored by Church World Service. Walkers of all ages are invited to help end hunger here and around the world. Twenty-five percent of the funds raised will benefit local food pantries. Pictured at the Sept. 5 CROP Walk Rally are (left to right) Lew Mantels, Mike Stehlik, Sheri Richards, Betsy Swinson, Mike Zeiss, Terry Witt and Hester Bury, walk coordinator. The walk (3 or 1-mile routes) will begin in Lombard Common park (Grace Street and St. Charles Road) with registration at 1 p.m. and the walk step-off at 1:30 p.m. For details on setting up a team or to participate as an individual, call 630-290-1829, or visit to register online.
