Traffic stop yields 43 bags of suspect heroin

According to the Elmhurst Police Department, a routine traffic stop made on Wednesday, July 24 at about 5:30 p.m. resulted in a significant arrest for narcotics. During a patrol in the area of I-290 and Illinois Rte. 83, officers pulled over a 21-year-old Chicago man who was observed talking on his cell phone while driving a Pontiac Grand Prix. Once the stop was made, police discovered the suspect had about 43 bags of what was believed to be heroin in his possession.

The driver was charged with improper use of an electronic device while driving and possession of a controlled substance.
