Crowds of spectators of all ages lined the Union Pacific railroad tracks through Lombard on Friday, July 26, to view the world’s largest operating steam locomotive. The Union Pacific’s historic Big Boy steam locomotive No. 4014 is pictured as it passed Grace Street on its “Great Race Across the Midwest” tour in celebration of the 150th anniversary of the transcontinental railroad’s completion. Of the eight existing Big Boys, the newly restored No. 4014 is the only one in operation.
