Speak Out—July 18

Here are some excerpts from this week’s SPEAK OUT section. To see the complete list of comments, pick up a copy of this week’s paper.

The news states that they want to give the illegal immigrants Medicare. They’re saying it’s going to cost $9 billion to the taxpayers, so taxpayers, get ready for a bigger tax hike. Thank you.

Ever notice how the media gets all over rich Republicans but gives Democrats a pass if they happen to be rich? A case in point is Mr. Pritzker. I looked up what J.B.’s net worth is, and it’s a little more than Trump—$3.2 billion to Trump’s $3.1 billion. I got that from Forbes magazine online. Pritzker’s net worth is also far more than Bruce Rauner’s, but all we heard about is how rich Rauner and Trump are. Pritzker is the richest sitting politician in the country, by the way.

A recent Speak Out commenter was all hot and bothered about Donald Trump and what he’s supposedly done to these poor children who have been separated from their parents. Please. Is this commenter upset about all of the Americans who have been murdered by illegal immigrants? Those victims have been separated from their families forever.

The Democratic Party is in favor of open borders. The Democratic Party wants American taxpayers to provide free health care to illegal immigrants. Some Democratic candidates for president have literally campaigned in Mexico. What are Democrats against? Voter identification, a secure border and a citizenship question on next year’s census. Are Democrats filled with compassion for people who enter our country illegally? Hardly. Democrats are lusting for power, and they think a flood of illegal immigrants will provide more votes for their party. If you think voter fraud isn’t a problem, you’re naive, dishonest or just plain stupid.

This is Lombard calling in regard to the issue with the library board and the park district board. I read again that there is another defeat, that the park district rejected a proposal of a land swap in Lombard Common. So, we’re back to square zero again. In the meantime all us Lombard residents are getting ripped off by a 74 percent increase in our property taxes that is being collected since 2017 for what? Where is this money going? We want our money back if there’s not going to be a library being built. Thank you.

I have to agree with, “Boy, I sure do miss the Taste of Lombard.” My friends, family, at this time we sure do miss Taste of Lombard. Wish we could bring it back. Thank you.
